It would have been better if Forest Whitaker got away with the bling.

It would have been better if Fincher knew how to take his finger off the "cool CGI camera move" button every now and then >:

Hey! I like Fincher! I thought the effects made it all more interesting. There was some very cool camerawork there. Anyway, Fincher hasn't let me down yet. Well, there was Alien 3. And I didn't really like The Game. But aside from that...

I thought the 'camera inside lightbulb' move was VERY unneccesary. Could have been cool in another movie, felt relly out of place in Panic Room. Leto was cool, though.

Yeah some of the camera stuff was definitely uncalled for, but some of it worked nicely too. Overall, I liked the movie but still felt it was lacking a certain something that would make me want to watch it many more times in the future.

Yeah, it was kind of a one-shot movie.

That's pretty much how I feel about it too. I liked it, but I can't imagine I'll ever buy it or even rent it. I love Fincher, but there's just not much more to find in there if you go back in.
And what were those opening credits about? Those names CGI-ed to lie parellel (sp?) with the buildings? Felt really unneccesary to me.

Actually I fucking loved those opening credits. I love it when people take time to make nice opening credit sequences instead of just simple white text on a black background.

Yeah, me too. But in my eyes, those credits just weren't right for PR. I did however love the Fight Club intro.

The best opening credit sequence of all time belongs to another Fincher movie, Seven. No contest. The credits in Panic Room were kind of neat, but silly at the same time. I would have preferred white on black with good music I think.
I actually really like the Fincher CGI shot, when used appropriately and occassionally. It was pretty perfect in Fight Club, and even the long "breaking into the house" sequence in Panic Room was good... but like pjalne said, things like the camera through the flashlight shot? Just showing off and massively distracting.
