Why the fuck did people like this movie? It was complete and utter shit. I was so disappointed. People thought it was scary and shit, why? The scary imagery was funny.

I agree.
I've heard very good things about the Japanese film it's based off of though...

I started a topic like this before. The movie wasn't even scary. Retro, did you laugh at near the end when you saw the guy's face? It looked like fucking play dough. LOL

I do not remember seeing your face in the movie.

I laughed hardest when she was in the closet and then her face fell with an open mouth on her knees. Me and my friends make that face all the time now, it would have been so much better if she let out a retard groan.

I fucking loved "The Ring", I thought it was creepy as hell. I go more for that kind of eerie ambience that movie had over "jump out of your seat thrills" (admittedly, the movie did have some of those but they were limited), but that's just my preference.
The Japanese version that this is based on is in my opinion BORING AS SHIT.

The first two japanese ones had some creepy moments and were nicely made, but they werent scary. The third one was just VERY SILLY.

The third one was boring as hell, with all that crap in the theatre. The end was pretty damn good though, I thought.

I like the Ring, personally. What disappointed me was the Japanese version. People kept telling me about how it was so superior to the American version, so I gave it a rent. After thirty minutes, I turned it off, because it was pretty much EXACTLY THE SAME THING except Japanese. I dunno, maybe it got different later, but it didn't hold my interest. I liked the Ring though. Unjustly criticized on this board, in my opinion.

I haven't yet seen the American version yet, but they apparently changed the ending and also the flashback scene in the japanese version where she killed the reporters... again, apparently changed to her killing horses. Still, I don't know for sure.

I figured there had to be SOME difference in the Japanese version. The box said "the movie that inspired the Ring" so I figured it would be something the same but different.

I loved the ring, I thought it was creepy as hell. I watched it twice, both times in the theaters, and even the second time I was scared. I'm easily frightened though.

Ringu is the Shizznit! That movie was great...
Also I loved the ring...
Japanesse horror movies are not like Western horror movies.
If you understand the Japanese mindset, you'd understand why these movies are so damn scary... Western horror is all about blood, & guts, & "supprise endings". It's bullshit if you ask me...
Western horror movies should have quit w/ Night of the Living dead...
And when in the hell is Canada going to make a good horror movie, or any decent movie? Hell I've seen better movies out of Spain, Denmark, & Turky... And you know me I hate Spanyards, Danes, & most of all Turks... Don't get me started on those Damn Nords...

I agree,it wasn't scary at all.It just kinda pissed me off.All of my idiot freinds kept urging me to see the stupid movie. And when i saw people were shaking in the theater.I just mosied out happy with a whole box of DOTS.I couldnt take the time to eat one cause i couldnt miss one moment.Cause at that moment the story would change again. The tagline also pissedme off cause it said,"THE SCRAIEST MOVIE YOU'LL EVER SEE".Well just cause i am todays age i dont like to watch the classics. The scariest movie i have ever saw is ZOMBIE.The movie i may add was simmialer [i cant spell leave me alone} to FEAR DOT COM.I guess those movies were to teach us to care for others an all that stupid shit.In both people
die days after seeing the site/movie.Does any one else see this comparrison?-GoR-
