Smashing Pumpkins - MACHINA/machines of God
Sonic Youth - Goodbye 20th Century (and all the other SYR albums for that matter)
Beastie Boys - Ill Communication
Radiohead - Kid A (Fuck you Royal!)
Blur - Think Tank
Pearl Jam - Ten
Drew Katsikas
Jul 25th, 2003, 04:36 PM
Machina- Smashing Pumpkins
Loaded - Velvet Underground, not terrible, but certainly contains filler tracks, not supposed to happen on VU albums
Rock and Roll Animal - Lou Reed, ugh, Lou gone arena rock
Bands that started with great albums, but got shitty;
All Everclear albums not including World of Noise and Sparkle and Fade
Pink Floyd was a great band, but started sucking after Meddle
crash0814
Jul 25th, 2003, 04:58 PM
Pink Floyd had plent of classics after Meddle. Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here are great, and The Wall's pretty good.

I just never liked it. The songs sound mediocre to me. The only songs that really jumped out at me were Jeremy and Deep. The fact that Mr. Vedder's voice echoes through the entire course of the album doesn't help. I don't like echo. I don't know why.

being released in october 2000, wouldn't kid a technically be part of the 20th century?
kid a isn't a bad album. amnesiac is "worse" anyway.
animals is definitely under-rated. the 1977 shows were great.

Even funnier! It's an ok album, but it isn't worthy to be the toilet paper that wipes KID A's ass. And if we have to get technical, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is the ultimate achievement in music in the 21st century.

Jul 26th, 2003, 12:35 PM
LMAO. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. THe ultimate achievement in music in the 21st century so far. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! WOO! Let me finish wiping the tears from my eyes. Only a complete and total retard would ever say that a Wilco album is the ULTIMATE achievement in music so far in the 21st century. Hell, except for my beloved Meat Puppets, alt-country in general blows. So fuck off. Even the terrible, terrible Kid A is better than Wilco.
Royal Tenenbaum
Jul 26th, 2003, 12:42 PM
Your musical ignorance is mind-blowing. Please refrain from posting anymore due to the fact it merely reveals how weak and fragile your mind is. If you can't understand KID A or Wilco or any alt-country, then just accept that you are in possesion of a musical illiterate and barren mind.
crash0814
Jul 26th, 2003, 12:48 PM
Yeah, that's the reason I don't like Kid A, Wilco, or alt-country. Because I don't understand it. :rolleyes
No, I don't like Kid A because
1. OK Computer is 2(insert large amount of zeros here) times better.
2. Aside from Everything in its Right Place, the songs are totally uninteresting.
As for alt-country, I guess I forgot how deep and complicated it is.
Royal Tenenbaum
Jul 26th, 2003, 01:02 PM
Oh really Ok Computer is better? Wow, yeah, I could see that, but why the fuck would I allow that to fuck with my enjoyment of another album? Because, well, I'm not a total tool, like you. Yes, OK C is a classic album, but so what, we are judging KID A on it's merits alone, and it's merits are that is is a masterpiece. I'm going to go listen to Blonde on Blonde now, but wait Highway 61 Revisited is better, so I guess I should stop liking it. :rolleyes
crash0814
Jul 26th, 2003, 01:04 PM

Do you have no sense of humour? Or are you just stupid? The whole album is one big "haha, fuck you". There are only ten songs! Ween knows how to make an awsome concept album, and they also know how to make stupid people confused & more than likley, angry.
crash0814
Jul 30th, 2003, 05:13 AM
A big fuck you? It wasn't a big fuck you. It might've been a joke, but it was not a big fuck you. Ween is a band that usually treats its fans well, and I, like most Ween fans, don't like country, whether played by Ween or not. If it was a big fuck you, it wasn't pulled off very well. I don't listen to Ween just for a laugh, because underneath the humor, there's usually a good song. That didn't happen with 12GCG, save for You Were the Fool, which makes it a novelty and nothing more. It's good for a laugh, but it's not something that one can listen to repeatedly, like any of their other albums. Admittedly, I was a little confused as to why they would let down their fans like that, but I wasn't angry, as I am still a huge fan to this very day.
On a side note, I have heard 12GCG referred to as a concept album, but I've never been able to discern a plot out of the lyrics. Maybe you can tell me.

Maybe if you listened to the Dead you might know what I'm talking about.
I don't see how its such an insult to the fans that ween did a country album as a joke. I geuss it probably disappionted them even more at Bonnaroo when the keyboardist was wearing a Jerry Garcia Tshirt.

Jul 30th, 2003, 02:43 PM

I guess I forgot that Grateful Dead wasn't tripped out on PCP. And since when has Ween tried to come up with intelligent lyrics? If you're talking about the newfound "seriousness" on White Pepper, they admitted even that was just a joke, and that they were trying to feign being really deep.

Don't forget that some rappers can be real good at what they do. Take NAS for example...fucking genius. Yes, rap music can be really annoying but sometime you just got to look past the panty hoses on their heads and the gold capped teeth, you just got to really listen to the messages.

I like Johnny Cash. I don't know if that falls into the category of over-produced Nashville bullshit country or not, but I like him.
As for Geggy, about 95% of rap sucks, but there are a few that are quite good. Jurassic 5, Beastie Boys, Wu-Tang Clan, any member of the Wu-Tang Clan and the Roots are all pretty good. There are more, but I can't think of them right now.

they've only spawned that because it's easier to imitate Metallica rather than Radiohead. I'm sure you could go to any high school in the U.S. and find a high school band that plays Metallica songs or Metallica-like songs. I'm not saying that they have no talent, I'm just saying they overall have less talent. Food for thought.... now swallow.
