Gorillaz - Self Titled
That's a great album! Del Tha Funky Homosapien is a good emcee, and everything Dan the Automator has been associated with has been genius.

Why would you be ashamed of 311? >:

I've never really liked them, but they did a cover of The Clash's "(White Man in) Hammersmith Palais" that I can't call horrible because it would be an insult to all horrible things that exist in the world. I, personally, hate them just for that.

I buy CDs out of town or thru record companies where they'll be sent to my house with no return address in a plain brown package. I then review all new CD purchases in private before informing any of my friends that I own said CD. Disapproval means in goes into a big hole behind my pole barn. That being said, I own NO CDs of which I'm ashamed. ;)

I'd have to agree to disagree on that one Les-

The only two reedeming songs on that Album are Redbull and Monument (and those were collabos w/ Redman and Busta for that matter-), other than that the entire Album was pretty bad i thought (C'mon a ghostface flow over an issac Haayes song??)
I could'nt even stand the song gravel pit-

I actually thought COnditioner was pretty funny- At least Odb's part- I slightly like Snoop, but i dunno ... His style is just too laid back for my taste- I bet he fucking writes his flows w/ crayons on construction paper...

Don't get me wrong, this isnt an afront to the Wu- which is one of my fav bands of all times, but when you compare this album to Forever , or even Iron Flag I personally thought it was lacking.

It isnt an album i am ashamed to own so much as i wish i woulda just saved my money and copped it from somewhere-

At least we see eye to eye on Priesthood- YEah that Album blew, maybe one or 2 beats on that one was kida tight- Although i did get a kick outa that collabo he did with the 4 horseman-

I burn all of my CDs, but people in my family tend to assume that because I'm a teenage girl I like girly popish things...and my aunt is struggling to make me love country music...so unfortunately over the course of the past 3 or 4 years I've ended up with all of these horrid CDs which I now use as art supplies:

ALL of the Backstreet Boys CDs... :blah
Mariah Carey - (No idea which one)
Deana Carter - "Did I Shave My Legs For This?"
Jo Dee Messina - (No idea which one)
Shania Twain - "Come on Over"
Trisha Yearwood - "Songbook"
Clay Walker - "Rumor Has It"
"Walt Disney's Musical Classics"
George Strait - (No idea)
"Wynonna"

And the worst of all...

"Twang This"

I honestly don't like them at all. And everyone around here loves them to death. So I bought the cd in order to be apart of the crowd or something gay like that. :(

As for Gorillaz, everything Dan was in was great. But the rest of the tracks...:/

I don't download excessively...and usually I only have one song by the same artist on one CD, so I find it a waste of money and space to buy every album when I only like one song. Also the radio is my main source of music, so I don't have too many burned CDs.

Oh, then, that's ok. You simply lack any taste/appreciation for music; continue in your ignorance.

I burn all of my CDs.

You burn ALL of your CDs, you say, which means you NEVER spend money on music, which makes EVERY attempt to justify yourself completely hollow. They have records for people who are so picky that they only like one song per album. They're called compilations. Buy those, and petition the record companies if the song you want to hear isn't already one one. >:

And I have plenty of appreciation for music...it's my life (I'm a singer/songwriter/beginner guitarist).

Let me know a site or whatever where I can buy a cd that has songs that I have specifically chosen to put on it (rather than that "NOW 5" crap that thinks it knows what you like) and I won't burn any more cds.

imported_Wicked Steve
Aug 12th, 2003, 05:20 PM
He means you lack taste and appreciation because you can only find one song per album to like, because most decent groups release good albums that contain more than one good tune. Duh.

Oh, and they also sell these neat things called "singles," too.

OperationScuzBucket
Aug 12th, 2003, 05:34 PM
Ok, you're taking me a tad too literally...it's not always just ONE song per album...it varies...but I don't find many artists that I can listen to non-stop and not get sick of hearing their songs (because each song on one album is usually very similar to the others).

And the singles...I'm aware those exist, but those are normally just the popular songs that get lots of airplay. Most of the time those aren't the ones I like the best.

I have purchased cds in the past, but I stopped for some reason, and NOW I burn all of my cds. It's not like I've never spent a penny on music.

Among the ones I have bought:

Smashmouth - Astrolounge
Avril Lavigne - Let Go
ALL of the Jewel CDs (aside from Intuition)
Korn - Issues

Avril Lavigne...the pop star who has the nerve to sing a line like "take off all your preppy clothes" (yeah, you're sure not preppy...) and then to butcher the shit out of a Metallica song with her weak-ass voice and lack of supporting talent. Whore. >: >:

I found your problem.

Big Papa Goat
Aug 13th, 2003, 02:37 AM
She did say she was ashamed of the album. I think people get too upset about Avril Lavigne, I mean, she's clearly full of shit, she's clearly not the only one in the music industry that is full of shit, or claims to be punk. That reminds me, some skank who was working at a video rental store noticed that on one of the t.v's in the rental store, there was a promo for the Lizzie McGuire movie. This scuzzy looking bemonatch then said something about how Lizzie McGuire is being marketed as a punk, and Avril Lavigne is being marketed as a goth. I then noticed she was wearing a pentagram pendant, and proceeded to mock her. Laughter ensued for all present.

OperationScuzBucket
Aug 13th, 2003, 06:20 AM
I never care about that...Avril writes good songs (even if her voice is a computer...that was a let-down, but still...she IS a good writer).

And I don't like Jewel's new stuff. That's why I HAVEN'T bought Intuition. She sold out and turned into a Britney clone. Blah.

Baalzamon
Aug 13th, 2003, 10:12 AM
You get all your music from the radio, and avril writes good songs... :confused

You are a fucking loser who is too stupid to put in the effort to find anything other than what MTV and the media throw in front of your face.

99% of all good music was not only written long enough ago for you to actually have to look beyond FM radio for it, but is also never played on MTV.

Take a look at the all time favorite bands/ top 5 albums threads.

Go out and buy some of the albums by bands that a few people recommend.

Proceed to throw your Jewel, Avril, Smash Mouth and Korn CD's in a fire.

Then once you own and like at least 5 of those albums, you may come back here and pretend to know what you are talking about. :fu

Look, people have different tastes in music. That's just the way things are. I can like whatever the fuck I want and it isn't hurting anyone if you happen to think it sucks. There's no use arguing over personal opinion, so go preach your "good" music to someone else.

Protoclown
Aug 13th, 2003, 12:53 PM
Avril's music is shit. That's not an opinion, that's documented fact.

And I have a hard time believing that she's written any of the songs on her album. I could be wrong, but she strikes me as the type who has other people write her songs for her, with possibly one or two actual contributions of her own included on the album.

It doesn't matter who writes the stuff though, it's uncreative, boring, mundane crap that sounds like every other fucking thing on the radio these days.
