I'm about to break down and buy one. I can't take it any longer. I have 4, count'em FOUR, NES's and I'm going to sell them all (even my emaculate NES console) to help fund my toploader obsession.
Am I crazy? AM I CRAZY?

I was going to buy one, but it was 80 fucking dollars. I'd buy it if I had the cash.

Do they work better than the old model NES consoles? I read somewhere that the old ones weren't designed to last more than three years. Then again, I read a lot of disreputable information. After all, look where I'm making this post.

Yeah, they do work better actually. It pretty much works like a SNES, so there is no blowing on the games involved really.

My frontloader has lasted about 15 years and it still operates fine, If you know how to hit it just right.

The original NES will work for a long time if you take care of it by cleaning all the games before putting them in. But over time, the connectors will bend. It's inevitable. That's why the top loader is so much better. The NES was probably the only cartridge console that loaded from the front - at an angle. No one else used that technique because IT SUCKS.
Jixby, you are a very fortunate lad to have acquired one for $20. Do you use it?

I still have my frontloader: it's had pop poured into it, dropped numerous times, and a dent where you can hit it for actually work.
Does it still work? Fuck no. I use it to prop up my bed and to hold my now valuable Mike Tyson's Punch Out cartridge. Lousy Nintendo.

I'll take it off your hands. I'll take your games, too.

Instead of trying to top McLean (seriously, who can?), why not tell us where you got a toploader so cheap?
