I'm not sure on this one- i was never a huge fan of the Wonka Mythos to begin with, but if i could think of any actor to pull it off it would prolly be depp... I'm not a huge fan of depp per se, but he's done pretty good, i realy liked him in the Pirates, Sleepy Hollow and Fear and loathing...

Why the hell shouldn't there be any CGI in it?
While Depp would be great, I still hope Michael Keaton will get the part.

Agreed. Depp's great too, but it looks more like keaton's kinda character. Besides, depp's got enough work >:

i dont know, i wanna see a little bit of darkness in Willy Wonka that Gene Wilder had. i think depp would be able to carry that a little better but Keaton would be a good cantidate too. regardless of that, if the oompa loompas are anything less than real men with orange painted skin and im gonna be greatly disapointed >:

There are a couple reasons this will rock. First of all, every single film Depp and Burton have made together has been a classic. Secondly, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory is a great book and has tons of great matieral. Thirdly, it's right up there ally, and Burton is the kind of director that will get it done right.

I woud really like to see a Charlie and the Chocolate movie done strictly like the book. I'm not saying that the movie wasnt good, I think Willy Wonka is one of the best movies ever made. But if you read the book, you'd understand that Charlie had a father, he was alot poorer, the Oompa Loompas were almost naked pale midgets, and there were no Golden geese. Burton is one of those genious and slightly crazy directors that would make this movie perfect.

I think Ted Danson should play Wonka. :(

Michael Keaton was fucking the original Batman, and those flicks were pretty dark. I think Keaton fits the persona better.

The Oompa Loompas weren't orange in the book.

But they were in the movie, and that really stuck with me more than the oompa loompas in the book...

If the oompa loompas rap in this movie i'm going to set myself on fire.

I still wanted to see Walken as Willy Wonka like they were originally talking about. Maybe he can play the grandfather though... he loves doing dance sequences and I can just see him jumping up out of the bed and busting into one of his dance routines.

You know, I can really see Christopher Walken as grandpa George. That part would suit him better over Wonka, I think.

As you can clearly see, i replaced Wonka with Depp, Grampa with Walken, and Mike Tv's mom with Mr. T
(i got lazy with the other two after i edited depp :/ )

You're both fucking stupid.
Mr. T is a cliched absurdism like Cheese and Squirels.
Also, you spell "you" "u." I mean, come on! It's only more letters! What's the deal with people who are so lazy that they have to abbreviate a 3-letter word! You're like a crazy person! What would President Kenedy think of this! or as my mom would say "MARGARAT, WHY YOU NO SPELL 'YOU'!!" I'm gonna go stick my wife's head in the toilet and fuck her in the ass now, heeeey

Elfman, is the only good choice to score that film. Also I really hope burton adds a little gothic twist to it.

I never thought Gene Wilder looked old enough to be Willy Wonka, and neither does Johnny Depp...the whole point was that Wonka was getting too old to run the factory so he needed to find a kid quick while he still had enough energy left in him to teach the kid all the tricks for fifteen years or so. I agree with HickMan...I'd rather they made a new flick based on the book instead of just remaking (or even borrowing heavily from) the movie, which seems to be the case.
