You try saying to some liberals that they're called stewardesses not flight attendants, that sexual harrassment isn't as big of an issue as it's made out to be, and that men and women have different abilities and attitudes and members of different races have different traits, then come back and tell me they don't want to dictate your morals.

EDIT: Plenty of conservatives are less strong in their opinions, too, but when I talk about liberals OR conservatives it is the loud and opinionated ones I refer to. I group all the others in the middle of the road section.

I guess I must not be a liberal then, because nothing you just said offended me, except the connotation that such things offend all liberals.
Most of the things that liberals want to dictate tend to affect other people, like telling people not to be racist, whereas conservatives, paticularly religious conservatives tell people to do things that have no effect on anyone else. Such as 'don't be gay' or 'don't do drugs' or 'no sex before marriage'.
But yes, there are liberal dumbasses that get overzealous in their pursuit of equality, but I'd say they're more left wing authoritarians, whereas true left wing liberals like myself :) tend to relax a little more on such issues. Maybe I'm just an anomaly though :/

First of all, only a fool believes that all media is left-leaning. More are probably left-wing than right, but there are some right-wing ones *coughFoxNewscough*.

Progressive is generally seen in a positive light while degressive is seen in a negative one. The left-wing has played on this mental association, making you think of the definition that refers to moving forward rather than one that merely refers to the progress of the government. The progress of the government, in my mind, is the degression of society; but because of the word trick, people subconsciously assume that the progress is of everything.

It's mostly a subconscious thing, but it does occur. You can't tell me that you would support a candidate called degressive over one called progressive if you knew nothing of the political views.

In any case, all political spectrums have their little tricks. A classic right-wing debate turner is to call everyone unpatriotic commie pinkos whom everything they have said is a lie; however, the left is quickly picking that up with the "Bush is an idiot because he can't talk well and everything he's ever said is a lie" line.
