Is it just my impression, or is everyone on these boards messed up? I see everyone posting about how they're on pills for their depression, how they're going through a rough time right now, how they have awful self-esteem, etc. etc. etc. Isn't there anyone on here without some kind of mental disorder, emotional baggage, or "psychological damage"?

I could include myself here, because by definition, I'm a borderline sociopath. But I disagree with the psychologists on that one. >:

I may act screwed up mentally, but I am not actually mentally ill in any way. If I have any mental disorders, it is probably an over-abundance of "notgivingashit-itis".

I have some undesirable personality traits, but I don't believe I'm "messed up." :/

I am perefectly balanced and adjusted, and merely indulge in my sociopathic tendencies as an engaging hobby.

Half the people that have something diagnosed just need to get off their asses and try being human once in awhile.

But then again, I'm no psychiatrist. In fact, I think I'm contradicting my therapy by holding this stance.

Pretending you're fucked up and insane is the new trend.. actually, it's kind of old, but it still surprises people for some reason.

Indeed. In fact, I put my heart into system failure so that other kids would think I'm rad.

If it's just pretending that all these depressed goth kids are doing, my beef is with the shrinks for continuing to put them on drugs and therapy.

So either people are more and more fucked up these days because they all have to see therapists or therapists are more and more fucked up these days because they convince people that they all have problems they can't solve for themselves.

I just can't figure which is true.

I just can't figure which is true.

I believe that it's both, in a sort of cycle.

Therapists tell people they're fucked up for even minor problems, which causes these people whine to their buddies about their problems, which, usually being quite broad, makes the friends wonder if they're fucked up. This then may cause one of them to go see a shrink, who then decides that he (the shrink) could use a couple extra patients and so he writes up a few perscriptions which in turn fucks up the patient because he feels like he should be fucked up. Then the new supposed basket case goes and whines to other friends...etc.

I don't know how much sense that makes, I'm no psycologist or anything, but it seems to me to be one big circle. Not to mention that certain clichs (sp?) seem to think that being insane is cool. We all got emotional baggage, but rather than teaching us how to deal with it ourselves, perhaps with a little help from friends or a psycologist, they're telling us to turn to drugs.

"my beef is with the shrinks for continuing to put them on drugs and therapy. "

Did you ever think they don't really goto therapy or take medication, or if they do they over-exagerate the situation?

The word of the day is: Lying. l-y-i-n-g.

Oh, I was referring to the kids I knew in high school who really did take drugs for depression and see psychologists and all that.

Oh, my mistake. Everybody's fucked up and "Depressed" in highschool. They are called, "Hormones".
Overexageration.

It's amazing the faster we approach a "Give me, give me" society, the more we get depressed or at least the more cases of depression that seem to be uncovered.

Vinces last post, taken at face value makes some sense. But since he's probably talking about how welfare is making people depressed, he's still an idiot.
