A friend of mine dropped out of school in the 7th grade and is being forced to go to some thuggish ruggish bone school because his mother thinks he needs to go to high school or die or something. So I brought up getting a GED, but in order to pass he needs some help with:

- Basic English (Terminology and grammar, mostly)
- Basic Mathematics (Especially long division, rounding, and powers)
- Basic Geometry (Radii, Diameters, Circumference, Area)

I'm trying to help him now but if anyone could post helpful information in this thread, it'd be very appreciated.

where does he live? sometimes you can go to your local y and get tutoring there. i'm sure there are some community programs that would be more than happy to help him pass his ged and help him find work.

plus, there are actual ged classes, which prepare you for the test and go over some simple concepts that you are going to need to pass the test.

Almost everything that's on the GED he should have learned by 7th grade. It's that simple. If he doesn't know the material or he needs a refresher, GED classes or one of those GED for dummies or whatever books are the way to go.

I agree with Perndog. The GED is extremely low level stuff. Go to the book store and get him some of those Grade 6 activity books.

When I took the CHSPE(which is supposed to be better than the GED), they had me write an essay about a famous person, first. Then came the test; they asked questions like: if there are 200 reindeer, and 50% of them have horns, how many of the reindeer have horns? Sometimes they'd make it more complicated by going:
There are 200 reindeer, 50% have horns, and 50% of the ones with horns are female, how many of the reindeer are female with horns?

I ALMOST DIDNT PASS :(

He lives in Oklahoma :( I give up. I think I'm just going to go to the Thuggish Ruggish Bone school :( I might aswell, I'm starting to think I deserve to live with teenage darkie criminals for half a year.
