I know there will two replies in this thread "Aenima" and "Tool sucks, Biggie you're a fag."

But my money is on Lateralus. It is different than their other stuff in a good way. A special way.

Lateralus is the most pretentious record to ever sell so many copies after The Wall. And it's overlong and the compositions tend to drag. And the lyrics suck my nuts.

Exactly Helm, and that's why I'm sure the new A Perfect Circle album will leave a bad taste in your mouth as well.

Helm is right. Tool used to be interesting and unique, but Latarous started coating everything in esoteric mystical stuff. Maynard needs to pull his head out of his ass and stop acting like such a pretentious more-enlightened-than-thou fuck. >:

After the thread about the new Perfect Circle cd, I don't think I'm going to get it at all. Not even pirate (arr) it :( The last few big releases have been dissapointment enough and I can do without setting myself up for yet another one. The latest Nevermore sucked ape anus (Ooo we play death metal now! And we're angsty ritch americans!), the latest Opeth was a waste of money, the latest Iron Maiden should be burned and don't get me started about the latest Metallica :(

Aenima was a kickass album.

I've listened to Lateralus few times and I remember I enjoyed it just once. That's only because I was REEEAAAAAL fucked up on drugs.

Aenima, on the other hand, is probably the best album I've ever heard.

Then you fucking suck, Aenima is good but definatley not the best album ever. Expand your horizons.

I suck because I thought aenima was the best album i've ever heard? I don't get that. Why do people even bother judging a person for his musical taste? It's retard. They're not whatever the music they listen to.

Do you want me to say the best record you've ever heard was the best record I've ever heard? Is that it? Ok, what is the best record you've ever heard? Yeah that's the best one I've ever heard, too. Happy now?

fag.

It's just that saying Aenima is the best album you've ever heard is such a stupid thing to say.

It was my heart that said Aenima was probably the best album I've ever heard. :(

That's because for some reason, people give a shit about what Noob3 said and chose not to vote for anything after it :)

Aenima definitely. I used to think it barely edged out Lateralus but now I think it totally kicks Lateralus's ass. I do think dispossition and reflection are on par with Tool's best though.

I don't think its unreasonable to say that Aenima is one of the best albums ever. Its cerebral, intense, emotional and not without a sense of dry wit (totally lacking in Lateralus). What else would you listen to music for?

Suddenly it seems there's a backlash against Tool and I'm not quite sure why. They used to be the band that people from all over the hard rock spectrum could agree on and that noon-hard rock listeners would still listen to. It might be their popularity, Lateralus or their obsessive fans who seem to be getting younger all the time (it is annoying to see a 14 year old in a Tool shirt). I do think that they are the most popular contemporary band that deserves to be taken seriously.
