What exactly is the difference between a movie and a film?

A movie is something you watch when the film is put through the projector.

Movies - What most people watch.
Films - What people who wear berets while typing on their laptop in a Starbucks watch.

Maybe a movie is made for the soul purpose of numbing brain cells for entertainment and a film depicts the gritty realism of our society.
