It's almost as addictive as the first. It only suffers very slightly from not being able to turn the camera in battle and from the confusing four-button menu layouts, but that's not nearly enough to make it bad. It's about on the same scale to the original as Aria of Sorrow was to SOTN. It's lots of fun, play it. Yeah, i know the story sounds a little silly, but it's not so bad once you start playing it and get into the fantasy world.


oh yeah, before you ask, abilities are learned by equipping and using new weapons this time. That should save you a little bit of confusion at the beginning. Also, press "L" on an any map area to view the current law set. The arrow scrolls down once every time you move to a new circle/icon on the map, so you can vary the difficulty of the next battle by moving to other places the appropriate number of times before fighting a battle. Fuck the "no 'fight'" rule.

I just got the first Totema. It is fucking awe, he annihilated every enemy on screen, they all died instantly :o. He seems to do 10 HP damage for every JP you have, so if your moogle's got 10-15 of them, you can complete erase all your enemies in one swift action! >:U

Name your clan Klu Klux and name the main kid Hitler. It's hilarious. :(

For some sick reason I find it very funny when the judge says "Yellow card for Hitler!" :(

This game is like crack. It's mediocre as fuck compared to FFT but I can't put it down for the life of me. I beat the secound Totema :(

I'm on the fourth Totema, methinks (My sister dropped my GBA in the toilet and it's drying and it works :() and the best one is Adremmalech. :(

Final Fantasy 8 was shit, ass. Ass shit.

Wrong. Not only did it have an extensive and incredible soundtrack, but it had a story that left me wanting to find out what happens next after everything that happened, it had addictive gameplay, lots of sidequests, and tons of shit to do after you got to the end. One of the most memorable games i've ever played, and one of the few RPGs where i actually care what happened to the characters in it.

Yeah, i realized that a little while ago. I thought i lost some JPs after using combos, but it turns out you lose them all after every combo. i think. O .o

Did anyone get a morpher? Malboro soul fucking rules. He's like a floppy-eared zombie, walkin' around turning everyone into toads who had the whole status ailment book thrown at 'em >:M. Fuck the story, i've had all my fun so far just powering up me characters into super-killer-doomguys.

That's one thing I don't like about this game: it's so secretive about information.

Get five Beastmaster skills for a Morpher. This feller runs on souls, though, so try to capture a Malboro or Lamia with a Hunter before you spend time trying to earn the Morpher. He learns he skills by equipping the souls you get from captures.

Ugh. I hate beastmaster. At one point, he got control of a bomb, and to my suprise, the bomb wrest control from him after only a turn, much to the surprise of my fencer.

Incidentally, one battle almost ended in disaster after I changed the classes of my black and white mages, and forgot to reequip their mage skills.

I want to kick Montblanc off my team, but he doesn't get the hint. :(

I trained a Nu Mou to do both Black and White magic, so I never use Montblanc anymore. But now I'm afraid that at one point, I'm going to HAVE to use him and Marche, (Probably against Ritz and Shura, Shiva, whatever the fuck that things name was) so I'm fucking paranoid :(

I pity the fool who thinks FF8 had memorable characters and cares what happens to them afterward. Every one of them was generic, undeveloped, and boring. >: And that's the main reason the game didn't live up to the series, though the terrible Junction system, lack of items (and treasure chests), mediocre plot, and forgettable score (aside from two or three tracks) helped. Of course, I do like the game, but it's got nothing on FF7, Xenogears, or Chrono Cross.

Oh, and when I get a Gameboy Advance, FFT will be my second game after Aria of Sorrow. Looks like it kicks ass.

Morpher is absolutely worth the anguish the beastmaster may cause, simply for the malboro soul. I can't wait to get my hands on a dragon soul. :o

As for FF8, i liked it because it wasn't so fucking boring like Chrono Trigger or Xenogears. Xenogears dragged on forever, and i was pissed off that i spent $30 on such a horrible game. I'll stick with my pedestrian RPGS, thank you.

I'm not a big fan of FF8 but I thought 10 was worse. I like 8 better than I used to after playing it again. Like it matters, 6 rules all.

I was planning on getting FFTA right away but I'm going to have to still wait on it. In the meantime, I shall hit up some of the deep dungeon for fun.

On a off-topic note, who is your favorite FFT character? Mine is probably Mustadio or Beowulf.

I know we all worship Orlandu so that can pretty much go without saying.

No, too late. My Nu Mou knows the strongest Black Mage and White mage abilities, so using Montblanc now would be suicide. :(

On another note, are the names the same for all of your beginning clan members? I noticed that every other name is random, but I really like the name Yutolio. :(

The hardest one was the fire one, for me. I forget it's name and which one it was. :(

The fourth one is easy as all Hell though, you just beat up some dead plants. :/

My favorite FFT character is most definitely Elmdor. The best character class was the ninja, but i think the Sniper beats that in this one. If the sniper is this cool, i can't wait for my Assassin. :O

still waiting for a new link on this one ninjer >: my favorite tactics character was probably Beowulf, Elmdor was pretty cool too. the absolute best ability that game had was Olan's Galaxy Stop, which you cant get, but it ruled the like one time he used it.
and lord i hated Rafa and Malak, so terrible. so yes, FFT ruled, and btw, i enjoyed both FF8 and FF10.

No, you can get both. There's a 20-something % chance that the weapons you find on the Pillars on Goatcheese Island or whatever that place is called will be a "II" item. The lower the Brave quotient of the person with move-find item, the higher a success rate of finding a II item. I used Rafa and got both in one try. (Rafa has the lowest Brave of any character in the game, especially if you use Chicken on her a few times with Beowulf to permenantly lower her Brave)

So how does FFTA stack up against the Playstation version?

Pros:

-More jobs
-Different Races
-New techiniques and skills to learn
-New weapons and weapon types
-New battle system
-New monsters
-Missions yield more rewards

Cons:

-Not nearly as many skills per job
-Character customization is harder because of the inability to access a skill tree/map
-Cheesy story
-Mewt
-Laws can become irritating if you forget what they are
-No copycat law
-Some missions require items you don't get for a long, long time

I've kind of lost the urge to play it now, the story hasn't really driven me enough. Not nearly as much as the first. Mewt is really gay, too. These characters aren't nearly as cool as the ones from FFT. The game's not as good as FFT, but no sequel can be, methinks. It comes possibly to an 8/10, based on nothing but sheer BS and opinionation.
