View Full Version : I've always wondered why Apogee games appear in threes...

not really. But I'm trying to find some of the classic PC trilogy games I was hooked on some ten years ago. They're often tough to find because 3DRealm is still selling them, but the crux of the problem is I don't want to pay for them. So, if anyone knows where to download these or has them themselves, please let me know through reply, PM or e-mail.

Keen Dreams
Bio Menace Episodes 1-3
Crystal Caves Episodes 2 and 3
Secret Agent Episodes 1-3

Incidentally, as I've mentioned in my reviews of the games, I have Commander Keen 1-6 if anyone wants them.

wasn't that the game where you fought all the weird muatnts and when you died you exploded? Or you exploded when you jumped into a forcefield, I can't really remember.

yeah that's the one. It had a boss that was this huge alien sitting on a throne, and his hands would break off and chase you.

that was a cool game.

Yeah, that's Skullman I believe. That game is pleasantly messed up.

Keen Dreams is a game that the designers of the Keen series threw together as part of a contract deal, even though they didn't want to, or something. They made it after Keen 1-3. It looks a little less pretty than Keen 4-6, but the main issue is that you CAN'T FUCKIN KILL ENEMIES. You have to gather stuff to throw at them to temporarily stun them. Still, the game was fun.

Download Keen 1-6 here: http://www.fragile-minds.com/fatsatan/commanderkeen_1-6.zip
I read in an article on 3DRealms' website that "most people consider Keen 5 to be the best game in the series". WTF. It was the worst.

I couldn't reach the page with Keen Dreams, but I got Crystal Caves 2. And of course Bio Menace 1-3 :rave

That's odd, the third link worked for me, I've got keen dreams so if anyone wants it, just im average25 on aim and I'll send it to you.

Another amazing note about Keen Dreams: it's fucking hard. You have to collect bombs throughout that game that are hidden in hard-to-reach places on the map (some are downright impossible to get to) and you CANNOT pass the game unless you get enough bombs.

Did I mention you can't replay a level after you pass it to get the bomb? FUCKERS. :(

Yeah, I think that's telltale of the fact that they didn't really want to do that extra Keen game for the company they started out with.

I found most of the games:

Crystal Caves 1-3, Keen Dreams
http://www.studieboekentoko.nl/oldgames.html
(also has Commander Keen 1-6)

Secret Agent 1-3 I "found" on this site; but I have yet to find out how to actually download them. After clicking a title I could go to a page with "download" in its URL by clicking the word "TUTAJ", but fuck if I know what to click from there on. Damned Swahili websites.

When I went to Home of the Underdogs I at first found only Biomenace 1, then when I tried to find the others the site's speed went to shit. I found the games elsewhere, but be warned: for some reason, this site seriously sucks up your system resources.

Well, found another site for the last games I was looking for: the Secret Agent series.

Secret Agent 1:
http://www.ellosnuncaloharian.com/juegos/view.php?ID=78
Secret Agent 2:
http://www.ellosnuncaloharian.com/juegos/view.php?ID=79
Secret Agent 3:
http://www.ellosnuncaloharian.com/juegos/view.php?ID=80

You have to register to download, but that takes three seconds. You need to click a confirmation link in the e-mail, so you do have to use a real e-mail address. Just make a new Hotmail address or something. Other than that, the site claims you have to wait 6 minutes inbetween downloads. Actually, it's more like 18 minutes. Either that or the 'clock' restarts everytime you prematurely click the download link, but it's still more than 6 minutes. I'd wait at least 10.

All this, and I don't speak a word of Spanish. Tutaj!
