Wow. Got the game today in the mail. Unbelieveable. Everything is touchable, everything is doable. See that pile of books by the trashcan over there? Throw a grenade at it and books and pages go flying over the room.
It has a ragdoll system (UT2k3) so bad guys don't ever die in the same way.
Weapons are nice. There is a host of new weapons, but returning weapons. Melee attacks are in the game now. Bad guys really won't see you if you run behind them and just ignore them, either.
Music rocks.
I think I'm...going to go play it right now.

Good god this game rocks! The only bad side about this game is that it is way too short. It took me about 8 hours to complete it. Hopefully there will be a lot of cool mods for max payne 2 in the near future.
That´s all folks.

I got max payne 2 as well, it was fun. I like when you do the dive thing, and right at the end you slide a few feet, that's great, I always sneak around corners like that. SNEAKY SNEAK.

Yeah, it may have been a good idea on paper but those two levels were so fucking unnecessary. Just make them cutscenes, I don't play Max Payne to play Super Mario's Grotesque Jumping Pity Game.

I played the first Max Payne on computer over and over again. The story is heavy on cheese but its a good game.
I really want to play MP2 but I'm afraid my Radeon 7200 will blow up. I guess I could wait until it comes out on the Xbox.

ITS PAYNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEE!!!
i love the comedy enemies in max payne 1
i love the easter eggs, like in 'address unknown': "i had the constant look of constipated grimace on my face". or the original max payne guy starring in lord and ladies (and address unknown)
there are bloody loads of them.
i wish they would make an address unknown series.
"all those video games must make his shooting really acurate, i mean useing a joypads just like using a gun, right?"

I just started (finally!) playing the first Max Payne last night. I LOVE it so far, the atmosphere of the game really draws you in more than most other games I've played.
I saw the Lords and Ladies thing on the TV in the hotel, that was hilarious. As for the other "easter eggs" that you mention, will I definitely run across them in the course of the game, or are they actually hidden like an "easter egg" would be? I don't want to miss any of the humor that they put in there.

There is a secret room in max payne 1 in the level where you kill the finito brothers. I don´t remember exactly where in the level, but at some point there is a door opposite to a bathroom. the door is sealed shut, but there is a crack on the door. shoot it to pieces and go to the room behind the door. then go out the window and follow the ledge to another window. Behind that window is a secret room with a reference to Buffy the vampire slayer. Hope that made any sense.

couple of others,
subtle duke nukem forever reference (guy says 'when its done', and he has same last name as duke nukem forever programmer, forget the name)
dick justice is apparently based on max paynes original revenge rampage (according to bum
some guard in the original game named his gun dick justice (i think)
references to columbine parents suing video games.
also, the is an address unknown movie! but before you get exited and think a mental patient killing people in noir york, its just some crappy movie about a kid who gets a mysterious package or some shit like that.
Mad Melvin
Nov 18th, 2003, 12:47 PM
Oooh...I remebered another one! In some level at the end of the game, you come a cross a small office complex, go thru it to the next room and there will be a painting on the wall. when you shoot it down, there is a button. press it and a hidden door will open.
I have a bad memory, so I cant remember exactly which level this was. :/

I played the orginal and enjoyed it except for those retarded maze levels as Rongi already mentioned. I'm probaly going to rent this game for a system since its so short but I heard they took out all the maze levels. Looks good despite its length.

What are the system reqiurments for this game. Cuz when i went to check on the box it said, "Not your shitty computer."
so what are the requirments?
Mad Melvin
Dec 1st, 2003, 04:11 AM
minimum requirements are about 800Mhz, a decent videocard and 256megs of ram.

If only we could all post from the only article on GameFAQs about the game. A man can dream.

This is seriously one of the best games ever. Ever ever. There are still dream levels, but you can't die in them and they're pretty linear.

Steam is a download service. Once you've paid for the game it permanently ties the game to you account and you can download it whenever you want.
I usually use Paypal because I don't have a credit card.

It has a touch pad. You need one hand to move the cursor, and one to click, which makes anything fast-paced impossible.

the graphics on ps2 really take away from the atmosphere of the game. it looks like a quake 2 mod or something.

PC
another thing, the pc version has access to mods and the like. load times are fantastic compared to the ps2 version which takes literally a few minutes considering it splits the levels into different chapters and loads each seperately. the pc version loads the entire level at once and didnt take that long to load even on my shitty comp.
ign gives the ps2 version a 7.9
they give the pc version a 9.4
