View Full Version : Best Music Videos of All Time

James
Feb 16th, 2003, 04:14 AM
I wasn't sure if this was Music Discussion or Television. But I figure "Music" is the first word, so here it is.

Best music videos ever. List, maybe put a little info. Don't say a video is good just because you like a song. And if anyone says that a video that is just a film from a concert, they will be getting a stab wound.

Oh, and I'll just say it now before one of you homos mentions it: Thriller. There, now it's been said. PICK SOMETHING ELSE. >:

I will find out what that guys says at the end. Even if it kills me >:

Best video EVER.

Though that video does kick ass, you cannot deny Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up."

Best video EVER #2.

I saw this music video a long time ago and it had some guy walking through a car tunnel and he kept getting hit by cars. He'd get up again, then get hit again. Anyone remember that one? I can't remember who the artist was... It was a kickass video. I think it was a brit band.

Rongi
Feb 16th, 2003, 02:34 PM
McClain, the song was "Rabbit In Your Headlights". It was by a band called UNKLE and Thom Yorke did the vocals.

Wasn't there a video for TV Party? I can't seem to remember...
"I was so wasted" I'm talking to Black Flag if I'm sounding to esoteric.

Feb 17th, 2003, 03:48 AM
Yes, Ronji. Thanks... I kept wanting to say Radiohead, but I knew the band hadn't put out that song. I forgot about UNKLE. I'm gonna' have to do some downloading.

I'll second Helm with "One" but i also liked "Freak On a Leash" by KoRn

Blackjack
Feb 17th, 2003, 07:27 AM
anything by Twisted Sister!!!

Other faves would be "Just Rock and Roll" by Midtown - featuring a Bar-mitzvah and a stripper. And "All my best Friends are Metalheads" by Less Than Jake... simply because there's this bit where two guys get on stage and do this russion crab-dance move thing which I actually mastered and accomplish everytime I hear the damn song in a nightclub:

Praise You by Fat Boy Silm and Spike Jonze is really cool as well.

SHIT... ALL TIME GREATEST VIDEO... SABOTAGE by the Beastie Boys!

James

Eminem does that move too, Blackjack.

Blackjack
Feb 17th, 2003, 05:07 PM
So? That's not gonna stop me embrassasing myself in front of hardened punks at nightclubs doing that dance. :(

Helm
Feb 17th, 2003, 05:15 PM
Blackjack, that move is done with no hands behind the back. And it's left foot out/right foot in, then right foot in/left foot out x2 and finishing with both feet out and arms outstretched at the end of the four meters. It's very, very difficult. I took it as a challenge as a kid to learn to do it. When I get to the UK, I'll instruct you to the ways of geekness.

Blackjack, that move is done with no hands behind the back.

They're two different moves. The one you're talking about is the Cossack dance, and it's fucking hard as fuck to fucking do.

yeah, I think Helm was describing the Cossack dance, which is just wrong. But would be fun to see!

I try to do the move they do in the Less Than Jake Video >:

Korn's Blind. Good song, excellent video.

Although I do think they ripped off Sick of it All's Scratch the Surface video.

Sober by Tool. Awesomely fucked-up claymation!

James
Feb 19th, 2003, 04:53 AM
Korn's Blind.

Go the fuck away, ye of little taste. 5 dickshits standing around playing their instruments is NOT a good music video. Go back to watching MTV, you little retard.

Geggy

out of all the radiohead videos mentioned, the one that blew my mind was "No Surprises." That video is sheer genius. Nearly wrote a undergrad paper on it.

Old Ozzy videos from Bark at the Moon to the one with Lita Ford used to crack me up, but they're far from the greatest.

Beck's Sexx Laws is an excellent music video.

James
Feb 19th, 2003, 01:14 PM
Yes, nothing says "greatest music video" like a bunch of costume homos dryhumping. :rolleyes

Almost everything my Rammstein and Tool goes on the list. Their videos are pure gold.

One these days, I'll have to go through my tapes. I used to record music videos (mostly metal stuff) and various random funny stuff. A nice jog of the memory could help me think of some more videos.

"Yankee Rose" by David Lee Roth. The opening at the convenience store alone makes it one of the funniest ever.

And "Fishheads" is by Barnes and Barnes, by the way.

I agree with Cemetery Gates, but you forgot This Love.

Anything by GWAR. You'd almost swear you were watching a TROMA movie.

And wasn't there a Radiohead video where Thom Yorke is riding in a shopping cart? Creep, I believe.

Of all time? "Epic" by Faith No More. Whatever happened to the fish?

Either it´s Bjorks 'All is full of love' done by Chris Cunningham or Massive attacks 'Unfinished
sympathy'...
The 'All is full of love' video is marvelous, so sterile but yet so full of life :rolleyes
And Massive attacks video is good because it is so 'simple', just one take and no fucking wankers that dance around naked like todays shitty music videos, god I hate them, makes me want to squish a bug or something.

And to all you guys that fancy MTV and such, piss off...please just piss off, you suck so much it hurts.

I hate you all...

Sabatoge is a definte great one.

Black Hole Sun is also good, I also liked The Day I tried to Live

And whether you like or hate that song, "Take On Me" was ahead of it's time.

As for Claymation, Sober is great, i also like AIC's "I Stay Away"

Cap'n Crunch

Who makes the video where all of the skateboarders get hurt? I can't understand what the guy is saying, but everytime I see the video I laugh. The one at the end is the best, where his arm is twisted around and is all floppy looking, it still makes me shiver.

Spectre X

Links 2-3-4 by Rammstein.

that was just sweet, seeing a bunch of CG ants rock to Rammstein and then eat a bunch of beetles. plus, the human hand covered in ants at the end just kicked ass.

and also, "Fat" by Weird Al kicks major ass too.

Helm
May 6th, 2003, 09:19 AM
Yeah, Sabotage was great even if Professor Cool misspelled it.

I don't care for the music, but "Fell In Love With A Girl" by The White Stripes was a cool video.

That's the one made completely out of Legos.

I saw the new Foo Fighters video (Times Like These, or some shit) and one of them, I think the rhythm guitarist, is wearing a Clash shirt. I like it just for that, but it's a good song too. :(

Also, the video for London Calling is very cool.
