To those who don't know what I'm talking about: John Constantine is the main character in the comic Hellblazer.

I still can't see Keanu working as John. The last pic is conceptually cool, but he's still American and Keanu. Constantine is as English as they come (it has been said that he is supposed to be London and Liverpool incarnate), and I have serious problems accepting this.

EDIT: At least they abandoned the super hero car he was supposed to be driving.

Yes he was.

John Constantine is one of the coolest characters ever (another thing we can thank Alan Moore for, if I'm not mistaken...I believe he first appeared during Moore's run on Swamp Thing) and Keanu is completely going to fuck him up.

If they were going to use an American, they could have at least asked James Marsters.

I'm all for Marsters. It'd be a bitch to tolerate him as Not Spike in such a similar role (They're both to a great extent based on Sid Vicious), but it'd be far better.

That's right. He showed up shortly before the Chrisis on Infinite Earths, and helped Swampy in his spiritial journey.
