View Full Version : Best Beer

Okay, so we all know that American beer is, generally speaking, weak piss.
What's good, then?
Lagers or pilsners:
Steinlager (NZ)
Moretti (It)
Stella Artois (Be)
Perla (Poland)
Pilsner Urquell (Cz)
Golden Peacock (India)
Koff (Finland)
Lapin Kulta (Finland)
Lion (South Africa)
Bitters, Brown Ales, etc.
Newcastle Brown (even though it's on virtual Bud-level in England!)
Tetley's (England)
Anything Samuel Smith does in this department
Boddington's (so weak it's like drinking soda, but damned tasty!)
Old Speckled Hen (because the pub can is so purty!)
Maudite- Fin du Monde (Canada)
Victoria Bitter (Oz)
Real Ale:
Timothy Taylor's Landlord (England)
Stout:
Beamish
Okay, I confess to a liking for Guinness as well.

Not all American beer is bad. Brooklyn Lager is good, the Magic Hat beers are decent, micro-brewed shit like Saranac is mighty tasty.....

Fuck off, twat.
And don't bother cooking up some faux-witty retort; the above isn't meant to be anything but instructional.
I posted about beer in a General Blabber forum-- how does beer not fall under that heading?
Why don't you.... hmm... not respond to a topic that doesn't interest you? Why bother getting territorial about a fucking computer forum?
Well, we know why you bother.

If it has calories in it, it's food. Thats why it goes in the ska forum, retard >:.

The 'fuck off' was not dedicated to Kevin, but to that Rongi weasel.
Yes, you're right- Saranac Black Forest stout is excellent. Look for that if you've never had it.
Also, Devil's Mark Porter is good American stuff.

Yes, that's a... logical fit: Ska-Food. I should have known that, of course; one tends to quickly establish links between things as complementary as these! I'm really impressed and intimidated by your ability to "boss around" a new poster.
I hope you don't pick enemies like this in "real" life, but then I'd expect that's something you don't know a whole lot about. If you want to make it real, well, you know where to find me.
Love,
The Professor

I guess I shouldn't bother, Mew, but he/she proved him/herself to be sufficiently bratty,
I won't bother going into 'sarcasm' with you, Rongi, other than this once... if I said "Love" when I've demonstrated that I clearly don't love... what does that mean?
Since you need everything spelled out on a 2nd-grade literal level,
F-u-c-k-i-n-g h-a-t-e,

No more on the subject, aside from this, Rogni- if you're trying to get rid of me, you're having the opposite effect.

Any beer brewed above the Waitaki is total piss. >:
Everyone should drink Speights.
Professor Poddar
Feb 16th, 2003, 03:55 PM
I take it you don't like Canterbury Draught, Pub Lover.
Hey, I think Steinlager is great for a light beer.
I will look for Speights.
Bloody fuck-- I am due for a pubcrawl in Christchurch this August-- there had BETTER be good stuff north of the Waitaki River!

Not bad, but not a patch on Fuller's IPA out of London.
Witch City? Not a terrible city to drink in- at least O'Neill's has Caffrey's and Carlsberg on top.
Beerworks- a mixed bag; "watermelon" and "blueberry" lager ? Ugh.

I bet the first drink from Beer Works that you've ever drank was the blueberry lager. Am I right? AM I RIGHT?! HUH?!
Have you seen a 6-pack of Kilkenny around? I love that beer and I can't seem to find it in America. :(

Andover Liquors (in lovely Andover, natch) carries, or at least used to carry Kilkenny's. Don't know if driving 15 miles for beer is worth it...
what am I saying? It's ALWAYS worth it. I make road trips for Brazilian beer.... Xingu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for Blueberry Lager-- noooooo! I was not the culprit, but had the misfortune of drinking with someone who tried it.
Their Black Cat Stout is much better.

Did you say 15 miles? But you live right down the street from Andover Liquors, Mr. Poddar ;)
Professor Poddar
Feb 18th, 2003, 09:22 AM
But Jeff,
I never said that I lived 15 miles from A.L. My house on Main Street is probably 3 miles distant. Is that you who honks when they drive past at three in the morning?
Geggy lives in Salem- which is about 15 miles from Andover, is it not? I recommended Andover Liquors to him.

But, you aren't tr00 unless you go for the PBR. $1.50 a pop at the tavern, suckers.

When I feel like drinking something expensive I'll drink a Guinness but most of the time I drink an Iron City. It's a `Burgh thing. Oh Great, The few brain cells I have left I use to remember old beer advertising slogans.

My first alcoholic beverage in over a year was last week, I had a Monteith's 'Rata Honey and Spice flavoured Summer Ale', this was my first time drinking this type too, so it was pure joy, I really recommend anyone that visits NZ to try it. It is limited release, so you'll want to come in the summer.
I was just talking to Tropical about our mutual academic failings, whilst I was drinking a can of Ranfurly Draught, which is very much a good beer in the standards of beer, & far exceeds those mass marketed rubbish.
I'm now half-way down a bottle of Speight's 'Porter', which is a marvallous double-malt stout. I could quote the labels of the bottle, which would be very hard for me as I'm very much unable to read anything smaller than Pt.8 size text at the moment, but be sure it explains the beers aroma & taste magnificantly, as they are magnificent indeed. :yum :orgasm
