Recently, I have seen a lot of refrences for this game around the boards, and it really took me by surprise. Just how many of you have played this game? I have played through it countless times, masterd nearly all of the tips and tricks, and still worship it to be one of the best RPGs--nay, games out there. If you havent played it, then...Play it. I go to Starmen.net (http://starmen.net) several times a day. I've beaten the game several times, and I'm working on a painting for the Funfest (http://starmen.net/ff). So, I love the game. Not as much as Punch-Out!, though.

I made it my personal quest to own this game two years ago. I got the complete set (Player's Guide, Game, Box, etc) off eBay for somewhere around $50. I've beaten it twice so far... but I still claim it's the best game ever made for any system.

How'd you pull that off? Importing?

Yes. Got Mother 2 off Ebay and got Mother 1+2 off Play Asia, I think. I use a Game Genie to play Mother 2.

How is Mother 1+2? Did they update the graphics for Mother 1, or did they leave it alone?

To be honest, I have played Mother 1 yet. I tried playing it on an emulator but it sucked, so I stopped. But like all NES RPG's, you really need to cut them some slack. I might play through it...later. But It won't be on Mother 1+2, becuase I can't read japenise.

We don't know yet. NoA Hasn't said anything. Over at Starmen.net, we had this thing, called PK Callin' where everyone called NoA and ask if they were importing Mother1+2. It was supposed to show how many people wanted to see it in the States. But as of yet, there hasent been any news. Since Earthbound didnt do so well in the States, I doubt they will port it. But there's still a chance. Just have faith...

Earthbound is a great game, but it has one major major flaw.
MUSHROOMED.
An incredibly irritating status effect that you can't get rid of! Great!

Sure you can get rid of it! And you don't even have to pay! You get $50 clames to get it cured. THEY pay YOU. And you only get mushroomized for a very small part of the game.

I'm in the second town. I've searched FAQs and they have mentioned nothing.

Go to the cave with the sprouts and when you get out theres a girl. she'll pay you 50 for it.

Yeah, the guys in the hospital. They just walk around; they aren't behind a desk or anything.

How many of you got the Insignificant Item and successfully traded it, or bought the cottage on the cliff? How many of you knew how to defeat Giygas right off the bat (I didn't :( )?

Awesome game, no doubt. As soon as the M/M2 cart gets overseas, I'm-a buy it.

I've played EB0 on an emulator before, too... Games just aren't as engrossing on a different system.

I know how to get the Magic Truffle via Insignificant item, and I have bought the cottage in Onett---but how the hell do you beat Giygas right off the bat? Sounds very interesting.

Hah, bad wording... Know the way to beat Giygas right off the bat, not hit him once and kill him. One of the crappiest abilities in the game (Pray) ends up being the only way to defeat the last bad guy.

Oh pfft. I thought you were referring to a glitch or something that let you kill him during the first part with Heavily Armed Pokey. Ah well.
