With the exception of Mad magazine, I'm seeing less and less humor magazines on the typical newstands. I have a question for those of you who remember Crazy magazine. What was the name of the clown that served as the magazine's mascot?

I remember when he fought the X-Men.

That's right, Rog. I just remembered it about an hour after I posted that. I was blocked on the the name the whole day. I especially like his advice column. Does the magazine still exist?

Nope, not that I know of. Most humor magazines are dead these days and I'm sure even the mighty MAD is going through some harsh times. CRACKED tried making a comeback, but the magazine didn't even last a year. The web site is doing fine though, but obviously that's not quite the same.
It's just too hard for magazines (and newspapers) to compete with the daily content you can get on a web site.
I remember when he fought the X-Men.I never saw that, sounds like something that'd be good fodder for I-Mockery.

Hahah, I actually backed all of those up a while ago so people could still check 'em if they wanted to. Here they are:

My favorite is probably the Halloween '03 intro. Always liked how that one turned out. :P

I've never heard of Crazy magazine.
As for Cracked, sure the art was crude and they had this wierd obsession with the shooting of JFK...but their covers were pure fucking genius. I need to scan (or find the cover online) of their issue parodying of DooM and the Brady Bunch. It's pure gold.
Mad's doing alright, I guess, Though their Mad Classics is a far cry from classic. The most recent issue features the Fantastic Four shit they showed about a year ago.

I liked Mad and Cracked, but my absolute favorite was National Lampoon. In it's day, it was frikkin' hilarious....

I heard Cracked isn't publishing magazines (or Mazagines) anymore focusing instead on the online version. Shame.
Lampoon was an awesome mag. Hilarious and dirty enough to fuel me through my formative years. Between that and issues of Heavy Metal, my pubescent brain was swimming in boobies.

MAD is kinda sucking right now, the newer artists and writers are pretty shitty. Thank God Sergio Aragones is still kicking.

'Spy' was briefly hilarious.

Oh ya, Spy. That was a mix of everything as I recall. Humor, editorials and even a bit of journalism. Sort of like the revamped Cracked. Only less funny. Spy stopped in the mid 90's I think.

I agree, Rog. I get most of my news and humor fixes on-line. I part company at novels, though. I lose interest trying to read a novel on-line.
