The band's members, Hunter, Matthew and Tug are pre-teens, but their music appeals to the young and not-so-young alike without being the least bit cutesy.
WTF, Tug?

Can we have an ALL PURPOSE YOUTUBE THREAD for the new forums? These don't get many replies.
Hasn't this been posted?

No, actually, that's a good idea. Although I hope this band is horrible enough to warrant more than 10 replies!

Electronic drum kits are fine for practice and studio recording, but anyone who actually performs with one should be shot.

You have no fucking idea what is meant by "electronic drum kit," do you? Big Black uses a drum machine, which is a work-around to not having (or liking) a drummer. That's perfectly fine. What the asian kid is using in the video here is not.
Of course if you're like Neal Peart and use an electronic kit in conjunction with an acoustic, to get more different sounds out of your setup, that's cool to. But performing entirely on an electronic when an acoustic kit would sound and look better is not good in my opinion. It's same reason most guitar players wouldn't be caught dead playing a synth guitar (a la DG-20).

Attention all musicians everywhere, DeFrense says it's perfectly fine to use a drum machine. Just be sure to have a backup acoustic drum kit so when you play a show you don't have to look like a pussy using any sort of fancy electronic mumbo jumbo. You always gotta hit those skins LIKE A MAN.
In the grand scheme of all that is perfectly fine, is it acceptable to use an electric autoharp or do I have to use an acoustic one whenever i'm performing in public?

I didn't say you should have an acoustic kit with a drum machine. :rolleyes All I'm saying is that no drummer has ever looked stupider in concert than on an electronic kit. Should I add that I own an electronic kit? Would I ever perform with it? No, if I could get around it.

Okay maybe I should spell it out for you. You seem to be suggesting that a twelve year old drummer in a band that is apparantly only relevant on myspace should save up a couple hundred dollars worth of lunch money and buy an extra acoustic drumkit solely for the purpose of not looking like he plays an electronic drumkit during his prestigious gigs at some VFW hall in McLean, Virginia.
And if that's not possible, it's time to load up some buckshot and start firing? BIG MAN :rolleyes

Do I think these kids are stupid, and was I pointing one of the many reasons that I think they are stupid? Yes. I'm sorry that I didn't know I-mockery.com/forum was home to the Roland Militia. Now I know to be more respectful to you and your instrumental needs.

Whoah I guess some apologies are in order here, not only for DuFresne but for the entire community of I-Mockery messageboardgoers. You might see that I am very new here, so clearly I have not yet honed the fine art of mocking and in my rambunctious posting I happened to have injured our good friend DuFresne here with some harsh words, causing him to question the very meaning of this, the finest of messageboards. His ruminations on the subject of his career and image at I-Mock have awakened within me a sympathetic inner light, causing my veritable third eye to open and see the world as the grand fabric that it is and how all of its glorious threads coalesce to form a great universal understanding amongst us humans that prior to this moment I have never been able to experience. In my newfound knowledge I am aware of the level of respect DuFresne has within the community, and Lo! had I this knowledge hours ago surely I would have left him be, content to argue with Rongi over the discrepancies of electronic drumming. DuFresne though I lack respect you are still my brother, embracement of electronic gadgetry notwithstanding, and as a brother is how I shall treat you henceforth.
OH GLORIOUS ADMINS (or Gadzooks, either would be cool) I BESEECH THEE, AID ME IN MY QUEST FOR RESPECT. STRIKE ME DOWN SHOULD I ONCE MORE STEP ON THE PROVERBIAL TOES OF THOSE RESPECTED, FOR ONLY WITH YOUR PROVIDENCE SHALL I GAIN SUCCESS IN LIFE AND/OR THIS MESSAGEBOARD. [/drama]

Oh I thought you meant drum machine for some reason. Great, now i feel like an idiot :(
But in that case, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones would like a word with you, fag >:
Even though what they play would sound a lot better with real drums
