Do you ever have premonitions or reverse deja-vu or memories of things that haven't happened yet?

I'm sitting down watching Less Than Zero, a movie I've never seen but probably should've. I'm watching it for less than a minute and I see the scene with the dude from Weekend at Bernie's and his chick laying on top of him in bed. He was telling her that he wanted her to come back to school with him. She tells him no very bluntly.

I saw this seven-odd second snippet in my head earlier today or perhaps yesterday, maybe even while I was dreaming last night.

This happens to me often and another occasion that really sticks in my mind happened to me last year in English class. I had an eccentric doctor for a teacher and he liked to put together powerpoint presentations coupled with music to illustrate the lesson.

Earlier that morning, I started off singing Robert Palmer in the shower. Fast forward to school and I was walking to English class humming Addicted to Love. Why? I don't know. Catchy, I guess. Anyway, we happened to be reading the Odyssey this whole time and we were at the point where Odysseus and his crew landed on the island with Circe.

During the powerpoint summary of that section, Addicted to Love was playing.

The musical coincidences happen even more often than the images.

This freaks me out.

I can never respect anybody who sings a Robert Palmer song in the shower.

what do you have to sing to get your respect?

This has been happening to me since I was a kid. I've never been so much freaked out by it as annoyed, because I can never remember where I saw the thing I'm seeing.

Anything from The Wizard of Oz sountrack. I'm partial to "Follow the Yellow Brick Road."

If I were you I would kill this person. It's the only way to make these coincidences stop.

I've had it before. I know exactly what a person will say and how they say it and what someone else will say back. It doesn't last more than 10 seconds but it's creepy.

Freakiest musical thing that happened to me was when I had iTunes on Shuffle while on the computer, and somebody came into a chat and said their friend had gotten into a car crash.

RIGHT THEN, iTunes started playing Understanding in a Car Crash.

Not a premonition, but I swear iTunes freaks me out with its musical timing all the time.

Most déja-vu can be rationalized by the brain filing a short-term memory into the long-term areas of the brain, so that once something happens it seems like it is much more distant than it actually is, hence it must have happened before.

As for the weirder, more concrete shit, that was actually a big thing leading me to come to my philosophical conclusions.

I mean, ASK ME ABOUT MY PHILOSOPHY.

Basically, all the of the universe was designed in a teleological manner such that every facet of reality pertains to the fruition of the intrinsic nature of human souls that exist outside of time. Thus, when you think about your Sharona and the song "My Sharona" comes on, it's likely a necessary impetus to direct your thoughts accordingly. Of course, this will have narrowing utility as more and more realize that mundane details have transcendental significance, like a knife that cannot stay sharp the more you use it.

Like, me typing this as the Ben Folds song "Philosophy" comes on, wherein he states "I'm crazy but I get the job done, so you can laugh all you want to, I've got my philosophy."

I like thinking I'm magic.

Besides, yesterday, a discussion that took place around me with no provocation from me whatsoever was basically the same as what I said before. My decathlon teacher was talking about these weird coincidences and his dreams.

Basically, all the of the universe was bibliography dwangus intristic establiquious paranghuette

Can you repeat that without the help of mister thesaurus ;<

My personal philosophical explanation for coincidences is that time is relative to perception and your brain occasionally processes information from outside of your normal perception of the progression of events for unknown reasons.

Terra

Does anybody remember the name of the poster who had the cornflake feet?
