An updated take on it, hopefully I'll be able to finish the whole poem.

I thought that said 'someone gently fapping' and was immediately horrified :<

That's somewhat accurate, actually. The "quaint and curious volume" he's reading is a 1978 Playboy, a plot point I hope to visit before the trailer blows up.
The enlarged version is a just an unedited scan of the original drawing, so it doesn't have the last line superimposed over it.

You mean the poem is cliche'd, or having it feature an elderly, drunken redneck in a trailer is?

"There once was a girl named Lenore
And a bird and a bust and a door
And a guy with depression
And a whole lot of questions
And the bird always says 'Nevermore'".

the lighting when he's firing the gun looks more like dramatic room lighting than the gun's light. It might look more like the light from the gunshot if you have the light following a cone shape.

Yeah, but I wrote the words first, and they had to be readable.
Except that I could have made the words white, so... crap. White out it is, then.

I think that's a good suggestion and I hope it turns out well!

That raven reminds be of British Iranian comedian Omid Djalili. He does this scary chin laugh.
