I realized I haven't posted in Art Shit in a while or even thought about it and that saddened me because it used to be my favorite board. So here y'go.

Love how the mouth and nose came out. Were you working from a mirror or a snapshot?

It looks like it was from a snapshot because the skin doesn't have a lot of varying shades. it's a common thing among drawings of photos. (once you know it's a problem and are aware of it you can make it much less noticeable!)
good work, though, and very nice proportions! The angle on the nose is the only thing that bugs me. I'd like to see some of your work with some color in it ands see what that's like!
come back to the art shit board more and i promise i'll be on more too! <3

is it supposed to be a reference to the sirani painting?

its a great piece all the same. thought it might have had something to do with this (http://217.207.178.138/cgi-bin/bridgemanImage.cgi/600.BH.596920.7055475/26516.JPG).

Well when my teacher explained to me that it was very junior high and I should be ashamed I brought that piece up. Along with the several other paintings of severed heads on dishes.

You should have claimed that it WAS a reference to the sirani work, then you could be all up in her face, like "Precedent's there, bitch."

She would have gotten in my shit about being a big fat copier. She's just a big jerk about shit like that sometimes.

it's an awesome concept for a self-portrait for sure, but some problems: your nose looks very indented. like there's no point to it. and the plate looks a little awkward on the bottom-left side (hard to tell how it's moving back in space, or if it's just strangely shaped).
but the way your eyes recede (a lot of artists seem to forget that your eyes are indented in your skull) is very very nice.
