View Full Version : I AM EATING A TURDUCKEN TODAY :O

Today will be the first time I get to try a Turducken for Thanksgiving. This should be interesting, especially because, one of the general rules in my life has always been to not eat anything that has "turd" in the name. Still, at least it's not a bustergophechiduckneaealcockidgeoverwingailusharko lanbler.
The largest recorded nested bird roast is 17 birds, attributed to a royal feast in France in the 19th century: a bustergophechiduckneaealcockidgeoverwingailusharko lanbler (originally called a Rôti Sans Pareil, or "Roast without equal") - a bustard stuffed with a turkey, a goose, a pheasant, a chicken, a duck, a guinea fowl, a teal, a woodcock, a partridge, a plover, a lapwing, a quail, a thrush, a lark, an Ortolan Bunting and a Garden Warbler. The final bird is small enough that it can be stuffed with a single olive; it also suggests that, unlike modern multi-bird roasts, there was no stuffing or other packing placed in between the birds. This dish probably could not be recreated in the modern era as many of the listed birds are now protected species:themoreyouknow

I minimized the browser window with this thread open, and the task bar had a window that said "I AM EATING A TURD..."

i wonder if cranberry would remain solid in a turd like corn and peanuts do?
prolly just the seeds.
a girl that works with me told me how she was in charge of making the turducken for her family and went on to explain how to do it, and i thought it sounded pretty gross. all those meats sliding around on each other brings out the food homophob in me.

I ate a piece of the turducken it wasn't so bad. But I don't think I have any of the duck or chicken. I think I may have just scrached the surface turkey. Which is really like cheating now isn't it?
It looked really weird. Like........giant salami. But not pink.

Did you like it Rog? Damn straight you did. You don't have to even reply.

Pics of said Turducken are forthcoming. And yes, it was better than regular turkey (which I've never been a fan of to begin with) so the cajun spices definitely helped. :o

I concur, unless dipped in some ketchup (then it's tolerable).

It's like tomatos or onions. Only built to be mixed with other foods and not a legitimate food by itself.
Except onion rings. Those are delicious.
