Aside from being a Megadeth song, wasn't "Black Friday" the day that lead to the Great Depression? Sorry, my bad. "black friday" was the sidekick in "Robinson Cruesoe", as my midget informed me.

The Great Depression began with "Black Tuesday", which was in fact a reference to an earlier event called "Black Friday" that happened when a handful of investors tried to corner the gold market soon after the Civil War.

My mom went and she said one guy put his wife up on a stack of merchandise and just throw stuff to him. She also saw someone thrown into a christmas tree.

EDIT: I was under the impression that black friday was given its name because the day after T-giving is the day that most retail companies get into the black numbers, or start turning a profit.
