So I have this spiffy new laptop but I can't take it out into the real world for adventures and tours of the finest museums and gutters that the city has to offer until I get a bag to carry it around in.

Now I've been to Best Buy, Newegg and places of that ilk, but I don't like how any of the bags look. They're all either too stiff/corporate looking or they look like they're trying to appeal to the XTREME SPORTS DUDE who didn't make the cut on a professional team and now has to go find a real job but still wants to clutch onto those fading dreams of athletic glory.

So this is where you guys come in. I just want a decent looking laptop bag that will protect my computer and have plenty of space to carry it around along with some accessories such as the cables, a mouse 'n what not.

My only other requirement is that the laptop is a 17" one, so the bag needs to be able to fit it. So yeah, if you guys have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

these aren't specifically laptop bags (i don't think), and they are very expensive (seeing as they are made from old truck tarps), but they will last you for like a hundred years.

Have you considered making your own? Just kill something (cow, human, shark, whatever), skin it, and than sew it up into a bag yourself. That way you'll know that only you have that kind of bag.

However, if you are a wuss and only want a store-bought one, just get the corporate looking ones, for thine soul is already gone.

i got a new lappy for christmas (thanks dad!), and i also got a Targus laptop bag -- it's really roomy, nice plain black with about 10 different pockets to store shit in. i guess you could try Ebay, cause i'm not sure where in stores you can find Targus stuff.

good luck in your search :) i'm looking for a Tokidoki laptop bag (they are like $100 on ebay, i'm not paying that!!), so we're questing together.

Actually, I didn't read the 17" part. The Buzzbag is more suited for smaller things. Try the Ego Bag from Tom Bihn.

I use a Targus bag and it looks way less shitty than the majority of other laptop-backpacks I've seen. For example:

I'm not sure why most companies try and make their bags in the "sport" style. They just look awful.

I also have a Targus, and I can assure you that Targus' bags kick ass.

I actually have two laptop bags, one of which is sort of just taking up space in my closet; the point being that you're more than welcome to have one of them if you don't find one you like. They're leather and very heavy-duty, but they are kinda corporate-y.
