A few weeks ago I was thinking about how I used to compulsively make mental lists of my favorite bands, favorite songs, favorite music videos, yadda yadda. It occurred to me that only recently would I have included Alice in Chains' "Rooster" on my list of favorite music videos. Thinking further, I realized that "Rooster" does a damn good job of violating any image of what a music video is--it simply transcends the genre. I can't think of any music video that comes close to it in terms of greatness.

As far as emotional reaction goes, I guess for me the video for "Ich bin die Sehnsucht in Dir" comes pretty close, but I wouldn't say that it's nearly as good. Same goes for Rammstein's "Ohne Dich", I guess. Seriously, guys, YouTube the video for "Rooster" if you haven't seen it already, and try to come up with something better.

NOTE: this is not a "contest" because prizes typically have prizes. Even if one of you posted a video that I thought met the requirements, I would give no awards. It might be because I'm cheap, but there's ample enough reason in the fact that I probably don't like you.

What's the point of participating a prize if you can't win a prize?

It would be nice to win a prize from a prize :(

I like King's X's Fade. It exemplifies what videos were not too long ago.
