Got this at the local Gamestop. The clerk didn't know what I was talking about and they didn't have it on display, so he was like WELL, SIR, I'LL CHECK IN THE BACK I GUESS. He came out with a copy and said that it was the only one they were shipped. Christ.

Anyway, this game is really good, but more of a 'cult good' than a really 'good good'. Like how Illbleed is 'good' if you know what you're getting into.

It's averaging a 9 on critic reviews (and even got over a 9 at Gamespot, who hate the Wii almost as much as Zomboid), but IGN gave it a 7.8 with the reasoning 'this game is great, but there is 'pop-in' and other technical issues with the free-roaming map but srsly your team didn't pay us nearly enough money to rank this higher'. The same game without all the style this one has would probably rank about a 6 or 7. Hope you like style! The dialogue is corny and fantastic, and so far all the characters have tons of personality.

You can also go shopping for clothes and stuff, but honestly Travis's default outfit is great and the options (so far) are just palette swaps.

That's not really fair, though; it's the kind of game you have to see as a whole before you can really appreciate it. The extreme lack of polish really offset me at first, and the combat system isn't something you can just pick up.

Without the personality this game has, I don't know if it would have a leg to stand on. It's like a 3D beat-'em-up to me and as much as I love the genre, it gets dull real quickly. It's a credit to the game that the style is so integral to the gameplay, but I don't think I'd like it so much if I rounded a corner and didn't kill nine men in a row with a single baseball.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a really good game and all, but to say it transcends consciousness is a pretty hefty claim.

My initial perceptions about this game were completely wrong. I'm a guy that likes a lot of polish and this game has none. I still love it, though. The dialogue is horrible, the cutscenes are ridiculous and

My highlight so far is Travis exclaiming "Oh shit! OH SHIT! Yeah, I'm packin' heat, baby!" during a scene where a female is supposed to be feeling him up, but obviously isn't. Or the monologue bug in the first boss fight, which only gets funnier the more I think about it.

The boss fights are GOLD, they're what's keeping me playing. That, and I'm beginning to think that this game is a direct throwback to games like Streets of Rage...some of the levels follow the SoR formula (baseball stadium, beach, subway, etc.) and one of the shirts even has "BARE KNUCKLE" on it.

I liked the ending. You can also get a slowed-down version of the last assassin's speech on youtube, it's kinda fucked up.

Also, they censored the shit out of this game in Japan and the UK, I had no idea. Bosses disappear in clouds of DUST and crap. Didn't Japan INVENT bloody dismemberments?

Personally, I'm really skeptical of these "stylized graphics" games. A lot of the time it just seems like an excuse for the game to have crappy graphics.

I don't even really care that much about graphics (seriously, who ACTUALLY cares about pop-in?); I just get annoyed by the pathetic cop-out that tries to camoflauge inferiority as a unique positive.

i decided to try it, after the first boss i went and did the really lame side missions to gather the money for my next assasination. it sucked the graphics are awful but they tried hidding it with the crappy shadow effects that make the models lose bits when put out in a black background, the bike driving really sucks and the draw distance is laughable with a game like this, and i felt like there were 15 persons in the city, and where are the other cars?. is indeed a turd

I've spent the entire game at 1 strength because I can't do the dumbell excercise to save my life and now it's taken me about 10 minutes to get the last boss down to like 80% health :<

This game also reminded me of Mischief Makers in a lot of ways; the focus on boss fights, the weird aesthetic and retarded dialogue, the great soundtrack, etc.

I loved No More Heroes, if anything could be done to improve this game it would be the open world part of the game. It should be taken out or at least reworked. Y'know, just so it won't keep me from the juicy boss fights.
