Pirates Vikings and Knights II

I like this game a lot, guys! It's in open beta right now and free for anyone who has a Source game, go get it.

To sum the game up as of where it is now, there are three teams: Knights, Pirates, and Vikings. There are two different classes per team: Vikings get Berserkers and Huscarls, Pirates get Captains and Skirmishers, and Knights get Heavy Knights and Bowmen. In the final game every team will get 6 classes. I've tried all of the currently playable ones, I love Pirate Captain the best.

Each class also has a special, which is made usable by killing lots of people.

There are a few different map-specific game modes: Booty Tag, wherin a member of your team grabs the chest and has to hold it until the timer reaches zero while the rest of you cover him; Booty, where Vikings and Pirates have to steal chests from the Knight base and hold them in their scoring area while not letting anyone else have more than them; Arena, where you go wild and murder everyone; and a King of the Hill type mode that I forget the name of.

It's a whole boatload of fun :<

Captains get ye olde shotguns. They actually have to stand still while reloading it, which takes almost 7 seconds, but the special is a huge exploding shot :o

I have PVK2 but haven't really played it more than once or twice.

Fistful of Frags is a much better mod IMO. DIPRIP is a pretty cool one too.

I gave the game a go some time back, it was good but this bastard Viking kept putting an axe through my head, ill have to give the game a go again.

Fist full of frags is also a good game the version I had tended to crash a lot, I think there is a more stable version out now.

I tend to download loads of mods but never get round to playing them.

The visuals are in no way crappy, that's just my video card.

It looks as good as any other Source game would.

I don't understand people that fetishize over graphics. Five minutes into a game they have all faded into the background of iconology for me. A barrel is just the mental flash card of [BARREL-USES INCLUDE...] not a stand out moment of wow look at the realistic grain pattern of the wood used to make this barrel .

Lag or glitching are much more annoying to me.

I had to play knights on one of the Booty maps today, and decided to grief my teammates by standing in front of archers and running our chests into the pirate base.

The reaction I got was fantastic. Especially from the Swedish guy who fancies himself the greatest strategist to ever live.

I don´t value graphics as highly as most people, but I´m allergic to bad early-year 3D Graphics and this game looks like one of those, thats all. If it might look better on a better system, as GW says, okay, fine with me.

Apart from that, I think...well, there are surely better games to play right now *shrugs*

It looks about as good (possibly slightly better) than all other Source (Half-Life 2) based mods. Which is about half as good as real Valve games but still not too shabby. I'll post a few screen shots later on from a real computer - not the 486 GW is using.
