Per RoG's suggestion, I will go ahead and set up a sports thread for the 5 or so of us who like sports :P

Talk anything sports, sports related, sports entertainment, or anything funny about sports.

Talk smack about the team you hate or talk up the team you love.

Hell, if you hate sports, goof on those of us who love sports :P

Have fun :)

Mine are UCLA, Vandy, Texas, and Louisville.

I'm still racking my brain over my bracket. Every year I make my picks with much confidence only to have my bracket explode in my face, sending me straight to the local burn ward. I'm sure this year will be no different.

This year's brackets seem to have more parity than any I can remember. I am not comfortable with any of my picks. I would still be grinding over it if it weren't for the fact that I had to get mine turned in at the work pool.

How about them Celts?

In all honesty, I don't see that there is an NBA team that can stop them, they are just too tough. But the west always brings a tough team to the NBA finals, so this year's finals will likely be the best one in years. We may see another Lakers/Celtics classic ala the 1980s.

That can only mean good things for the NBA

I'll just say this, for all I know about sports:

I was surprised when I heard that the Lakers got Pau Gasol from the Grizzlies. By all accounts, the guy is a top-notch basketball player, but an unremarkable team like the Grizzlies were willing to part with him anyway. I guess I just don't understand NBA trading.

Anyway, that's about all I know about sports, and I only know that much because I used Gasol in street matches all the time while testing NBA 2k8. People always go for Kobe first. Just because you're from LA doesn't mean you have to go for Lakers guys every time, people!

They did it for cap room relief (Kwame Brown's expiring contract), and instead of trying to explain the salary cap in the NBA I will tell you that the Memphis Grizzlies have basically given up on being a competitive team this decade and are rebuilding for the next one.

Same here. I'm actually dreading having to sit down and finish the rest of my bracket because I know it will eventually cause 3rd degree burns on about 60% of my body. You'd think that year after year of brackets going up in flames that i'd be used to the pain and suffering.

I filled out my brackets! Kansas-Texas matchup with Kansas winning all

This is after 45 seconds of arbitrary selection. I filled out my brackets last year without thinking and won in all my pools, so it's the way to go.

I also have Michigan State losing in the first round even though they're a 5 seed :lol, but that's because they suck eggs when they don't play at home.

Looks like it is going well, that's good :)

I like hockey some, it is my 4th favorite sport though. It is much more fun for me live than it is on TV. So I try to catch a Blue Jackets game once a year, it is like some sore of whacky party at an NHL game.

Recruiting in college is interesting, but I have a hard time gathering the info because there is so much of it to gather. I try to keep up with OSU recruiting though. Anything you wish to express an opinion on though in that regard I will gladly discuss with you WhiteRat. Recruiting is very important in college football, it pretty much dictates the preseason ranks.

Soccer is not really popular in the States (which is why we suck in World Cup usually) but we have a pro soccar team in my city, and they have the Buck a Brat night promotion, so I sometimes check that out. For about five minutes David Beckam <sp?> coming to the LA Galaxey was a big story. That kind of petered out though.

So guys, what do you think of the Ducks' chances on winning the cup again this season?

Honestly I think they have all what it takes for the cup, but I have to say that I wouldn't be surprised to see either Stars or Wings in finals.

Seems like another dry season for canadian teams. In fact, I have enough balls to claim that the winner of this season will be from western conference - again.

Although I'd like to see Canadiens to hoist the cup, just because Koivu would deserve it :/

Milhouse, you should start caring more about the Big Ten, specifically Minnesota. In fact, you should be cheering them on tonight as they play Maryland in the first round of the NIT on ESPN!

Speaking of NIT, we made an NIT bracket pool at work. Winner takes home 20 bucks so Syracuse better play like the number 1 seed that they are.

The Ducks could repeat, but I don't think they will. That is more of a gut feeling though. I tend to agree with the Wings as the odds on favorite, they seem pretty stacked.

That will be the case only if someone also picks up the slack of the so far disappointing outlook of Michigan. Their coaching change so far has not paid off like I had thought it would. The replacement for Henne (I forget his name at the moment) left not long after Carr left. They had a lackluster recruiting session as well. As a Buckeye fan, I actually like it when MU is a threat and unless a major change happens, or I have misread their luck thus far, MU will not be a threat.

Saw this on the front page of SI.com. Anyone else think that Phelps' face looks weird (weird as in overly photoshopped, i know he looks goony)?

Just as you pointed out, his face looks weird. Period. They could've photoshopped the shit out of it, I wouldn't know. Goofy looking bastard is lucky he can swim like a fish.

The weirdest thing about the photo is that he's obviously been swimming in those clothes. :eek
