I've seen them. It is a series. First one is super realistic from what I recall. Also, the first one actually caused a big stir in the states when Charlie Sheen saw it and thought it was a real snuff film. The FBI got involved.

It was marketed as a 'is it real or not' in Japan. People were concerned and the makers were forced to make a follow up showing the actress who was 'murdered'.

This was talked about at length here before.

It's mindless gore and I'm not a fan of that genre of horror in the slightest. But, you can see clips and learn more in the documentary Snuff:Does it Exist. It's free on Google video.

I've seen this one, although I'm having a hard time finding "He Never Dies!" (heard it was funny) and skipped "Devil Doctor Woman" (looked dumb).

I thought the violence toward animals was a bit gratuitous, and obviously no one seems to care when a chicken is snuffed (if "Ebola Syndrome" didn't bring that one home, I don't know what would). That's the only part I found squirmy and bad. The rest just seemed like a silly, bizarre fetish video. Even the way they filmed it looked like porn.

Have you seen "Red Room"? Now that one was funny.

I've never really understood movies that exist just so you watch someone get mutilated. Is it supposed to be some sort of legalized fetish genre? Is it just the way the directors try to scare you? For me, they only made me go OWWWWW, but the silliness of it ruined the rest.

For what it's worth, I have no idea how Charlie Sheen could have thought this was a real snuff film. It wasn't a snuff for anyone but that poor chicken. It was way too well-produced to be the "dark, secret, underground" video they were trying to promote it to be. For the production value, think 80s porn. Very unlikely that a real snuff movie would be that well done.

Also, the sound effects were absolutely ridiculous. He pushes a syringe into her and you hear this "pflapppttt" sound like someone stepping on an overripe grapefruit. Everything had a sound effect...."plonk", "pbbbblappttt", etc. It was like a 4th grader standing just off camera making obnoxious fart noises.

Charlie Sheen must have been drunk, or high, or both, or something. I just can't see anyone thinking this movie was the real thing.

I watched that documentary, and it was interesting, and really disturbing at the same time. Makes me hate my dentist even more. :P
Yeah, I couldn't understand how he thought it was real either. Maybe if you had a microphone under the skin, and injected jello into her, then it could sound like that. But I've never had any sound effects when I got injections.

Back in those days, my understanding is that he didn't see the whole thing...just a few seconds of it in a grainy dub. It was an underground thing...like Star Wars Holiday special.

No plot, really. Just very disturbing, realistic violence. If that's your thing, then it's good. The first movie was a lot better, though.
