View Full Version : YouTubes for Music?

I really wonder if i should even start this.

I have found an amazing amount of stuff from You Tube, just with music videos that I either never knew existed, or haven't seen in like 15 years.

Anything goes as far as genre for me, just make sure the sound is decent.
I'd prefer if it was an ORIGINAL video by the band in question, but every once in a while, I'll see something homemade that is damn cool. Live stuff might be ok, if sound is up to snuff.

I wish to start this thread, mainly to free up the other You Tube thread in General Blabber.

F'rinstance...

No Means No "Forget Your Life" on what I think is Canadian cable access in circa 1979-80. Yes, they are a 2-piece and Rob Wright actually looks handsome AND nervous.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTet6HStYuQ

The B-52's "Planet Claire". This is a homemade but done really damn well, I think, as it captures their early raw energy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EPP3gkh_00

Voivod's "Psychic Vacuum". I recorded this off MTV years ago, only to have the tape stolen from a "friend". Canadian Sci-fi metal.

"Hey Mathew" by Karel Fialka. An 80's hidden gem:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=eHM2b8T0E4I

"Wot" by Captain Sensible. A bizarro video for an equally catchy tune:

If David Allen Coe didn't do the vocals, I would not bother

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSmNuHQzlYg&NR=1

"The Devil Went Down To Jamaica"

Edit: I was drunk and didn't realize that there so goddamn many variations on "The Devil Went Down To Georgia". Please disregard as i'm a drunk, and not really into "weed" humor usually. Just haven't heard any David Allen Coe in a long time.

I'd still like this to be a postable thread.

Fiona Apple's Not About Love. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSWrcGuMvaU)

Betty Boo - 'Where are you baby' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O26snSXNKLQ) is still good as far as I'm concerned, but Doin' The Doo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM_9As_2VAg) really doesn't hold up to my memory of it.

This isn't the actual video (I don't think one was ever made) but this homemade version of "Perverted Undertone" by Prefuse 73 is pretty damn good:

Only in the 70's, man, only in the 70's. I just don't get how a guy can sing like that. Or a woman. Or anything in general. It's kinda scary, really.

Mere minutes ago, I noticed a large amount of Danzig videos (actual and homemade) that I had never come across before.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite songs
("Uncensored" so prolly NSFW)

I was looking for this song, fer like 2 years

The first version I found...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnaUY6EJADY

Forgive the Star Trek crap, and yes it does play 3 times in a row. I wouldn't mind so much if it had stills of Katee Sackhoff smoking cigars and beating the shit outta people

The second...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbEMuZXIB4A&feature=related

Anyways, after listening to this, I want to dance around and be faggy... only to rip my shirt open and have kinda sorta attractive women throw their panties at my hairy chest. While smoking two cigarettes, one of which I give to girl in the front row with the NICE set of knockers.....

Swans video for "A Screw". Pretty much sums up the band. Might be NWS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqiEmNaG5QY

Negativland's video for "Gimme the mermaid". It was secretly made in a Disney animator studio by a group called Naked Rabbit, who made that "Cat Head Theatre" video a few years back.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9yjGiTQvGQ

Super Furry Animals' video for "Lazer Beam". I'm not really into this band but I think this video's cool because it features graphics from Metal Slug.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnkkbpSby74

Tool's "The Pot" set to an animated short. This is actually really cool.

They bleep out *hell*, it's great.

I was listening to Who Was in my Room Last Night? and thought it should be on Guitar Hero, (for whatever reason.) Turns out it's on the second one. And it's not exact, either. They omitted certain parts.

This week I've mostly been a fag to Kate Miller-Heidke's 'Words' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONfRrZOGC0g) & Gabriella Cilmi's 'Sweet About Me' (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ElY5Gr845Fw), while Weezer's 'Pork & Beans' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muP9eH2p2PI) only needs a couple of seconds to lodge in my brain.
