KUNG FU
I suddenly began watching a bunch of these earlier today, starting with Tiger and Crane Fist (movie Kung Pow was based on) and working my way around the youtubes to whatever seemed interesting.
I'm watching Invincible Armor right now, and the fact that it takes about a second after people get hit to make the stock blow noise makes it that much more entertaining. After this I'll probably go dig up my copy of The Chinese Connection!
So, yes, we will discuss Kung Fu movies in this thread. It will be a good thread.

If you're interested, check out Jet Li's Legend of the red dragon. The main villain has a tank of some sorts and some of the good guys are 7-years-old kung fu fighters :lol

I love Kung Fu movies but don't feel like talking about it.
I do feel, however, that comedy is the greatest genre of movie ever, so I will talk about that instead. My favorite is History of the World Part I.

I heard they're remaking the original Drunken Master with Jackie Chan playing Sam Seed and Tony Jah playing the main char.

I do like Jackie Chan's "Drunken Master" but, i seem to remember watching two different versions. Anyway, the "Drunken Master" that was made first is prolly the best.
And the only Mel Brooks movie better than "History of the World Part I" might be "Silent Movie" ("Blazing Saddles" is AS good as "History" to me)

Silent Movie is faaaaaantastic.

Blazing Saddles sets the bar by which all other comedies are measured.
Edit: Pretty much everything Mel Brooks ever made is genius.

What about Shaw Brothers they were groovy during the 70`s, also they create a style that remains on anime

Dude.... are you stoned? Ninjas aren't from China, they're Korean. That's why America almost lost that war.

uh-oh, sounds like someone's never seen CHINESE SUPER NINJA (a Shaw bro.s classic) and dosn't know what he's missing. elemental ninjas, poison rings, the masters silly lil' door crank, and the best drawn & quartering in a movie- ever.

Comedy is probably my favorite, but horror has some good points, too. Movies that straddle both genres (intentionally) are typically classified as either being Shaun of the Dead, or not.

I actually thought Club Dread was pretty good. Apparently a lot of people disagree because they thought it was going to be Super Troopers 2. Bad times for them.

I was into it about as much as Super Troopers. And I didn't expect much of Beerfest at all. But seeing Juergen Prochnow acting so off the wall made it exceed my expectations.

Kung Fu is a genre close to my heart. Martial arts films in general actually. Zatoichi the Blind Swordsman, Master of the Flying Guillotine, Karate Bullfighter, Snake in the Eagles Shadow, Twin Warriors, The Legend are all good ones.

I'm a fan of kung fu movies myself, and with dollar dvd sections my collection has gotten pretty big. Sonny Chiba's karate movies are kickass too, especially the one where he hits that guy in the back of the head and his eyes pop out.

Kung-fu films are the best. Did someone mention Invinicble Armour, because that film was kinda shit up until the ball-busting ending. It was on that Yuen Wo Ping collection. They got a Sammo Hung one out with films like Burger Cop.
Still, I could name a bunch of films, but I'd rather watch what more or less has become my favorite kung-fu film to watch.

I like Asian Extreme. My favorites include Battle Royale, Ichi the Killer, Uzumaki, Red Room and Ebola Syndrome. I prefer a heavy wtf factor in what I watch.
Tarantino movies also kick much ass.
