Sam Raimi said he was only on for three, if I remember right..
Kybo Ren
Apr 27th, 2008, 02:05 PM
Sam Raimi said he probally won't direct the next one, but he definately gets to pick/OK the next director (Raimi is gonna be like Lucas on Indiana Joneses). He even joked that Peter Jackson can do it if he gets the Hobbit- but I heard Guillermo Del Toro got Hobbit (what is it with Fat directors and Tolkien?)

from what i heard, they were going to make another trilogy, but Sam Raimi is not going to direct like Kybo Ren said

last i heard (about a year ago), there were going to be 6 movies. I heard Sam Raimi and Toby McGuire (sp?) didn't want to do it.
Raimi's a fan... I think he was pressued into including Venom in #3.
But he set the fucker up with 1 and 2 to include THE LIZARD, Dr. (one-armed) Conners is in both.
Topher Grace was a good choice... but, c'mon man. Venom? Lizard shoulda been number 3, plus harry osbourne going psycho, and maybe sandman.
With the alien symbiote landing at the end.
#4 ... Development of symbiote as a back story, lizard is cured at beginning, but shows "signs", and some asshole gets electrocuted but doesn't die.
#5 Symbiote story rewritten from #3, harry osbourn, electro appears, black costume, Dr.conners get lizzie at end
#6 Spidey goes against Harry (goblin), Lizard, Electro, Venom, and... hell, i don't know... Throw some pete getting it on with Betty Brant. I'm grasping at straws now.
Edit: #6 would have a very brief cameo from "Cheech" Marin and Tommy Chong, just for the hell of it

if Toby McGuire (sp?), doesn't wanna do it no more... how 'bout Jake Gyllanhaal?
He seemed very Parker in "Zodiac"

Who needs Gyllanhaal when they've got Ted Raimi on hand?

Is the villain going to be another twerp that even I could beat the shit out of, like Eric Foreman?
It should be Steve Urkel this time
Kybo Ren
Apr 28th, 2008, 01:08 AM
And Sinister Six is still good:
Dr. Ock- A. Molina
Vulture- Larry David
Electro- (anyone with a smart mouth, let's say) Rob Courdry
Kraven- Clive Owen
Mysterio- Bruce Campbell
Sandman- T. Hayden Church
JediScum
Apr 28th, 2008, 04:21 PM
For the Sinister Six to be in a movie, it would have to be not quite like the comics, especially after #3, which I didn't think was bad except for the last 15 minutes.
Alfred Molina kicked ass as Doc Ock, but he "died" in #2, so he's out.
I like the idea of Vulture. I don't know about yer choice for the actor though as i'm unfamiliar.
I REALLY like the idea of Electro. But unfamiliar with actor choice again.
Clive Owen could prolly be good as Kraven.
Thomas Hayden Church was a damn fine Sandman.
Bruce Campbell as Mysterio... this could really work. Keep having him in cameos in 4 and 5, then have Mysterio show up in 6. he's unmasked at the end.

Apr 28th, 2008, 05:36 PM
I heard 3 sucked ass, so why would there be a 4?
JediScum
Apr 28th, 2008, 06:09 PM
because Hollywood doesn't know when to fucking cut it out!
Otherwise, there would less than 7 "Police Academy" movies.
JediScum
Apr 28th, 2008, 06:15 PM
Still, my hypothesis. is Sam Raimi was TOLD what to do on Spidey #3, so he made it suck. He prolly wanted Sandman and maybe, I hope, The Lizard. But, the studio prolly said "Venom is great with the kids. The kids LOVE Venom. Put Venom in or you won't be greenlighted".
Marvel prolly had something do with it too.

The original ending to Spider Man 3 was to have the 4th villian appear right before the credits. Bruce Campbell as Mysterio. Then it was written out.

DocOck ain't dead yet- those arms will keep his brain dead ass kicking for years.
and all my calls on the 6 were already rumored, except Rob Courdry (daily show) I just threw him in cause he pops up everywhere i look.

Apr 29th, 2008, 01:20 PM
Zombie DocOck would be a good bet. It can't be any weirder than that 70's guy as Venom. I can see Larry David coming across as the Vulture though and Clive Owen would make a great Kraven. I don't know about the sandman...what the hell would he do? Continue yapping about his sick daughter or something? There was good depth to the character for someone that stole the whold damn show from everyones favorite villain(Venom). I just don't see his role in a sequel. But I really couldn't give less a shit what they do for the last one as long as Carnage doesn't show up.

I know i said Doc Ock was "dead" but, when does that actually last in comics?
He could be brought back crazier than a shithouse rat.
For Sandman, I see him trying to redeem himself yet, if "they" have his daughter, ok, he'd be evil or something. Until his daughter was rescused, then i'm sure he'd go nuts.
I still demand the Lizard.
Fathom Zero
May 1st, 2008, 11:10 PM
Lizard, for sure. The Shocker, Carnage, The Vulture, Mysterio, Kraven the Hunter, and whatever other Marvel villain they want to drum up would do just fine.

Y'know... I'm gonna watch Spidey 3 again and try to see where exactly it goes wrong for me...
There were many things pedantic (like trying to combine 60' and 90's).
But the main problem I have, is when redeemed Harry Osborn , scarified on the right side his face, appears to help Spidey...
Parker says, "You came?"
H. Osbourne shoulda said " No, I showed up!"
Well, Ok, the symbiote could have easily been defeated If someone had the sense to play the "Confusion Is Sex" LP by Sonic Youth.... Or the song "Passing Complexion" by Big Black
And like no one in New York is going to be playing Nina Hagen.... Geez!

Best part of braindead dockock- no swaying emotion for his dead wife. Just villainy.
Shocker- kickass character who looks awesome, but not as powerful or Cinema worthy as Electro
Lizard- is outstanding (gotta use one arm catch for "who is lizard?" in movie) and near demanded due to Connors appearances.
Scorpion- potential and old favorite, but not as good as Lizard.
Daredevil was allright <electra was gigantic turd> But I'm still torn on Kingpin.

I actually liked the Blade movies (but I spent no money to do so).
I'm not saying that Blade and Spiderman never met either... in the comics.
But why would they make such a movie?!?
(oh, because it's Hollywood and they can if they want)
If we're going that way, there should be a Howard The Duck 2, based on HTD #13?14? where he's in the asylum, and KISS jumps out his brain, in full make-up.

Marvel Team Up movies!
Blade & Spiderman!
Wolverine & Punisher (thomas jane, thank you very much) !
Thing & Hulk!
Elektra & Invisible Woman dyking it out!
Torch & Iceman!
and just to make you cry....
Magneto & Nightcrawler! cause they had gay sex in costume.
JediScum
May 6th, 2008, 08:56 AM
only a couple of minor things I see that would cause problems....
Thing and Hulk movie
Thing was an actual actor in a suit while Hulk was CGI. But if he's got any acting chops at all, he could do it.
Magneto and Nightcrawler would be rated PG, while Elektra and Invisible Woman would be rated NC-17, if YouTube had anything to say about it.
other than that, These projects should have already been GREENLIGHTED!

I'd like to see a franchise reboot, myself. I mean, shit, Spidey is one of the more charismatic superheroes they have, so why do they have a guy playing him who has the personality of a dead moth?
How about a less pompous Spider Man movie where he's been Spidey for a while? Where Spider Man throws out zings and acts a little wacky like he usually does?
Where Venom actually looks like he could rip Spidey a new one, or where the Green Goblin doesn't look like a Power Rangers villain? Movies where Sandman is still a prick, and so is Harry Osbourne?
Don't get me wrong, Dafoe and Molina both stole their respective shows in the first two. I just wonder if Sam Raimi starts to crack when they give him real money to make a movie with...
JediScum
May 7th, 2008, 09:45 AM
my previously posted hypothesis was Raimi was pressured by Hollywood (and Marvel, possibly) to include Venom. Otherwise there would not have been one.
I mean, come on.... how you boil down an alien symbiote story that started in like 1986? Then takes years to finally become venom?
Make it just poop from the sky
Kybo Ren
May 7th, 2008, 11:38 AM
Raimi said he was unfamiliar with the character until he heard the fans wanted him for 3. My guess is marvel tells him what fans want (like dead capt america, one more day, and all the other crap us fans DEMANDED)
thing&hulk would have to have a kick ass villian, or it would have to be ff&hulk to work.
villian suggestions?
absorbing man

Absorbing Man was, while never named, alluded to in the first Hulk flick with Nick Nolte's character.
I don't think Hollywood could pull off Impossible Man, but good.
Abomination's already done.... and Rhino would be so lame afterwards, like an Abomination's "Mini-Me"
The Leader?
Kybo Ren
May 8th, 2008, 12:49 AM
The Leader, while awesome, but somewhat reminiscent of a longstanding Gargoyle (god i love oldschool hulk)- is too smart for a thing/hulk. granted the first act must be thing/hulk slugfest, Leader is too damn intelligent for them to take down
UNLESS...
thing&hulk run an over the top obstacle course forcing them to work together to even get near/at the Leader, only to have them FAIL at the coup de grace. and then out of left field steps DrDoom to take hulk for experiments, leader for slavery/experiments, and leave the thing to report back to RICHARDS! to show how impotent they are in the face of Doom. he would want richards to have all his toys when he finally takes that stretchy jackass down.
still not confident about new abomination (Roth good, Abomination uglier/not ugly enough)
Have always wanted hulk movie to show gamma mushroom cloud, and have everything high speed around bruce until he comes to screaming in doctors office.
and to stay on topic...
Jake Gyllenhaal replace spidey in 4
Maggie Gyllenhaal replace mj in 4
Luke&Leia seem less creepy

However I was reading a friends FF awhile back and reed captured his zombie dopplegangers for like one page and thought it was a cool working cameo with bad characters.
Oh yeah.....
Blade & Ghost Rider.... unless Gaimen & Del Toro get Dr Strange kickin first
Ironman & Antman

In the meantime, let's go crazy bazookers apeshit!
Dear Editor Quesada, I love Spider man Reeves btu Burroughs dressSuper, noth sandgobbbbveno, bill, bit joe coudda or christopher horse. Get'em, no, get'em
Collageocomi that's the faer we talked of .... they're out or dead. Reeves, Bixby...
Spidey goes home from school, from Connors class, who is working on a formula for regeneration. Temporarily reinfested w/ parasite. swings through a park , when symbiote takes over. Symbiote Spidey stops near park bench where an old man lays. Symbiote is gone. but Parker now looks like Gyllanhaal not MacGuire. Gyllanhaal, with Spidey abilities, goes forth, amnesiac.
Old man, gets up, in raincoat, fedora a la William Burroughs. As fedora turns black, oldie slams a fifth of cheap whiskey... then grins. Symbiote slides from head to body and transforms, from blackovercoat to a suit with WINGS

Apparently, in the last few weeks, James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) has turned in a working draft of Spider-Man 4 to the studio. However, according to our source, "his story arc has encompassed two films, making Spider-Man 5 shootable at the same time. The studio saw dollar signs and is in the process of reworking his deal to snatch up the story arc." Don't expect anything immediately, though, since we've been told both sides are still trying to negotiate the deal.

Right. A Spider-Man robot that [franchise] started only but 6 years ago. It doesn't matter how you feel about the leader actor or his personality, he's not playing himself in the film. Everything you just asked ('where...') I felt Raimi accomplished. Oh well, to each his own.
Watch if they ever do a reboot of Spider-Man, all you fanboys would still find something to piss and moan about.

Marvel should just buy the rights to Spidey, the Fantastic Four, and the X-men from Sony and Fox respectively, and start fleshing out their universe on film. It's obvious the films can't survive creatively past the second installment on their own. Crossover films are the next logical step, even for DC which can't seem to mine deeper than Batman and Superman for big-screen material. A lot of superheroes aren't well-known or well-liked enough to carry their own film, much less a series. Fuck Spider-Man 4; if it happens it's going to be a god-damned disaster. Either leave well enough alone or take the character and franchise in new directions. Didn't anyone learn anything from Batman & Robin?

Ang Lee's Hulk + Tim Story's Silver Surfer = Nightmarish Defenders Movie. It'll be greenlit before I'm done typing.
I agree with the earlier statements about the Lizard as the Spidey 4 villain. Definitely should've been part of #3. If Raimi or whoever helms the next one cares enough to try and make it worth a shit (and history tells us that they won't) then Dr. Connors and his alter-ego would be the richest, most well set-up bad guy to run with.
Hopefully they'll at least give Luke Cage and Ant-Man a chance to fail miserably at the box-office before they milk the Spider-Man cash cow anymore.
