It was not that bad, design wise - but as I understand the logistics of the costume made it impossible to use. Van Damme couldn't control the thing and he looked like a man on wobbly stilts during initial filming.

Stan Winston was given the redesign job and came up with the Predator design we all know and love.

By the way, I just heard that Winston passed away last week. For shame, the man designed the Terminator, The Thing, gave Jason his hockey mask, Jurassic Park, Batman, and the aliens from Aliens - just to name a few. The man was a FX legend and will be missed.

That 1976 remake of King Kong had a pretty awful costume. At one point one of the characters goes WELL WHAT DO YOU THINK DID THIS, A GUY IN A MONKEY SUIT and I just lost it :<


Also that's probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen, everyone go rent it

Playmate of the Apes was pretty terrible. For the girl monkey costume it looks like they stuck a white monkey costume and cotton candy in a washing machine.
