If they're EVER going to do a movie on any of these, I pray it'll at LEAST be in CG.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the Mortal Kombat movie, there was alot to like about the Super Mario Bros movie and I personally thought the Doom movie was awesome.

LordSappington

I thought it was okay as a movie in itself. But being a rabid classic doom fan, it sucked terribly to call itself doom.
The FPS part kicked significant ass.

mmm, lets see

Sonic
Killer7 (guarantee the plot would get messed up beyond all means)
Metal gear solid
Diablo (fat chance, but still)
Wii fit (worst...movie...ever...)
Dynasty Warriors

MK is my favorite video game movie to date, but there absolutely were things wrong with it. The Super Mario Bros movie, imo, was garbage. Doom was entertaining, but it should've never been put to film in the first place. Paper-thin plots in video games don't translate to the big screen very well.

troubleshout, i can't speak for everyone else here but i personally think your signature is way too dang big

and there is not a difference between being a psycho and being a psychopath, one is an abbreviation for the other

being psychotic, on the other hand, should not be confused with psychopathy

Oh, and like article about bad videogames based off movies, I really don't want to see an Ice Climber movie

A Super Smash Bros. movie would probably be the greatest thing ever.

I personally thought the Doom movie was awesome.

You have problems. Doom was almost on par with Street Fighter in terms of ass sucking. Making it the 2nd worst video game movie ever.

The first MK movie was the best video game movie so far. It had its moments of cheese but it seamed to work well for the movie, much like an old kung-fu movie. The MK sequels sucked though.

Troubleshoot, I think if they focused solely on the plot and payed no attention to anything else in the game and tried to stay away from any and all "based on the video game" asspects, Killer 7 might actualy make a bad ass movie. But back to the toppic at hand...

Any movie based on any MMO would mean the end of the world! Any Castlevania or Mega Man game.

It needed more enemies from Nintendo games, not just ones from Mario games and some made up ones. I also thought they should've gave the bosses more backstory instead of just popping up to give you hell.

But yeah, it would be awesome if they made one.

This is the first I've heard about it. EisigerBiskuit, are you sure you're thinking about movies? Not cutscenes in the game, but a film released in theaters or on video.

executioneer

mgs2 has more total length of cutscenes than most hollywood movies :lol

To be fair, the Three Kingdoms book is one of the four pillars of Chinese literature and should get its fair share of revivals. It's very important.

I know, I'd figure it was worth a mention. Have you read it at all? It's on my to read list after finishing Don Quixote and Water Margin.

I know the story after reading the Wikipedia article. Might be worth a read, providing I can find a copy somewhere. Hardcover is always preferable. Water Margin looked interesting, though.

Don't know if it's a rumor or not but I've read somewhere that MGS4 has one single cutscene that literally lasts for 90 minutes. You CAN pause.

Kirby would be a great movie, by the way. But I'd really love to see a TF2 one :(

Ok, how bout this:

A young, lovable everyman gamer recieves a copy of Smash Bros. Brawl, shows substantial skill in the game, and vows to become the world's number 1 tournament player.

This takes him on an EPIC QUEST in which he must combat vicious basement dwellers, autistic asians, and people who REFUSE to play on any level other than Final Destination with items turned off.

Dylan TNGA would co-star as himself, of course.

Advent Children sucked, IMO. All CGI is not the way to go for Halo. I think a James Cameron-type could really do it justice (think Aliens).

If you DON'T go for an all-CG movie, with the original voice actors, it's just going to turn out cheesy and have less of the accuracies along the game line. Like it's going to look damn terrible in an aluminum MJOLNIR suit. Plus you just can't do the same stuff with a live actor as you can with CG. If you go all CG you can have so many bad-ass scenes, without harming an actor, spending money on special effects, trainers and stunt doubles, and it WON'T look like a 1985 Chinese 'Action' movie.

It was okay. Better than I expected, I'll give you that. From what I read about it, the people who were writing the script more or less had Master Chief as a supporting character, and the soldiers around him as the main characters. I think this had to do with Master Chief being unable to show emotions, since he is essentially faceless.

LordSappington
Jun 18th, 2008, 11:21 PM
That does make sense. I jsut don't like the inevitable cheesiness of live action. dmit it it, all live-action video game movies you saw were insanely cheesy.
