Whats your favorite animated comedy and why. I don't think I'd be able to pick one personally.

and futurama, rockos modern life, ducktales/darkwing duck, gargoyles, old simpsons, and home movies if we're talking best animated comedies of all time
If we're talking about best animated comedies now, then american dad, venture bros, aqua teen, and perfect hair forever.

SIMPSONS- It'll make anyone laugh, even repeats 10+ years later
sure it's sunk low, but it's still funnier than FAt rIpoff GUY (12 laughs a year)
SOUTH PARK- When it's hot it's INFERNO, when it's not, it still has payoffs. best in house music on cartoon
They're heading they way of simpsons- need to get their act together
HONORABLE MENTIONS::::
Classics: Looney toons, Tom&jerry, Disney- they set the standard and developed the medium
FUTURAMA- too sci-fi oriented for general appeal
REN & STIMPY- too whatever for whoever. nuts to THEM
up&coming:
VENTURE BROTHERS- heavy referance and lack of standard only thing holding them back from the EXCELLENCE. don't get me wrong- these things make me love it, just not for EVERYone
METALOCALYPSE, SUPERJAIL, and others
one day they may shine bright, but we need to keep the flames from going out

The superjail pilot was one of the better that aired that day :x

Jackson Publick's co-writing superjail.
Drinky the crow got picked up(supposedly) and that was funny even back on SNL- which hasn't been funny since what, Ferrel?

Home Movies is fantastic :<
Venture Bros is probably the best animated show on TV right now.
I've also gained a fondness for Chowder and, to a lesser extent, Flapjack

Hey now. The Oblongs had potential before the writers went too far away from the source material by making it more family friendly.

now i watch home movies every once in a while, and i love the dry humor and sarcasm, but i wouldn't say it's like the best show ever. i am not rofl everytime i watch it. I mean, i know if i watch futurama or the simpsons i will get at least one good laugh, but as much as i like home movies, it isn't the first thing that pops into my head when i think of adult swim, and it's definitely not the first thing i think of when recommending shows...
what is it that you guys like so much about it?

just like you said, the dry humor. on the season 3 dvd (i think) there's a special feature that's just coach mcgurk and brendon doing a little improv conversation for about 30 minutes, and it's probably one of the funniest things on the 3-disc set. aside from this...
the dialogue. this show could be a strictly audio format show (like a radio broadcast or something) and i would like it just as much. the overlapping dialogue, the awkward pauses and stutters; a lot of it also seems very real. and the voice actors play off of each other a lot, as a lot of the funniest moments are most likely improv'd.
the only thing i didn't like about home movies was squigglevision, but that's gone now so i'm happy. too bad it got cancelled though :(

Yeah, Forgot the Critic, great cartoon- but why does the mass populace hate Lovitz?
But what I feel really ashamed about forgetting is another cartoon that's already hit the mark on several occasions- the Boondocks
