I wish they would release this fucking thing already. It seems like the guy just updates with a "yeah, sorry it's been so long since the last update, but real life has been soooo hectic!! i can agree with you here ZOMBOID, mother 3 is going to be fantastic and the updates on the site are disappointing, unless they involve some sort of percentage, like they were doing with the script drafting or whatever. i don't remember if you own a wii or not, but you should look into the homebrew channel + visual boy advance for wii if you haven't already. fantastic GBA emulator, and the thought of playing mother 3 on my television is much more exciting, especially since i first enjoyed earthbound on a tv as opposed to a handheld.

I haven't been really keeping up with the project status, but I'm subscribed to get emailed when it's done. It seems like they're really close though since their to-do list (http://mother3.fobby.net/faqs/project-to-do-list/) has a almost everything crossed off. For all I know the final items on the list could take the longest time, though. :(

The final items on the list shouldn't take too long if you read the shit that accompanies them, but these guys are great at taking forever even with stuff that they themselves have said is really simple. I don't count the fan translation, though. Mother 3 is 100% playable, just not in english. DNF has nothing to show for it's development time except for a prerendered trailer and a few seconds of shakeycam footage on some noname's web show.

It fills me with man rage every week to read that they've completed another .09% of the game's fifth bug test and it'll only be 2 more bug tests and another month and a half before we'll be able to test the final product for bugs!

It's a different emulator, but yeah VBA is also available. The best one uses a dumped GBA BIOS and runs at full speed.

I use gpSP-Kai myself, just because it's the first one I spotted. Haven't had any problems, save for one layering problem in the original Rhythm Heaven. I tested a few other games and they ran perfectly.

Plus, I like bumping the visuals up so the game fits from top to bottom. I just wish there was some kind of Super Gameboy-like border to take up the two black bars on the side :(

KK THIS IS REALLY LONG AND YOU NEED AN SD CARD AND A COPY OF TWILIGHT PRINCESS

(these are probably in an ass-backwards order too, sorry :()

1. backup your twilight princess saves (if you have any and want them). go to the wii menu options > data management > save data > wii, and copy your saves to your SD card. then bring the SD card to your computer and drags the files off and save them (private/wii/title or something like that).

2. download the twilight hack. http://hbc.hackmii.com/dist/twilight...v0.1-beta1.zip (http://hbc.hackmii.com/dist/twilight-hack-v0.1-beta1.zip)

3. download the homebrew channel. http://hbc.hackmii.com/dist/the_home...-beta_8.tar.gz (http://hbc.hackmii.com/dist/the_homebrew_channel-beta_8.tar.gz)

4. put the files from both of those links on the root of your SD card (private folder, wiiload folder, and boot.elf)

5. in private > wii > title, there are i think 5 folders for different versions of twilight princess. look at the bottom of your twilight princess disc on the inner ring. there is some text like RVL-RZDP-0A-0 JPN (it probably shouldn't say that though because that's japanese :x). http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Twilight_Hack, under Usage / Installation has a little table that tells you which folder/files to keep depending on what the bottom of the disc says. (everything i'm telling you is based off of this page, so just refer there if i confuse you)

6. delete your twilight princess saves. wii menu options > data management > save data > wii, click the save file and erase it.

7. copy the save data from your sd card. wii menu options > data management > save data > sd card. click the twilight princess save file and copy it to your wii.

8. insert the twilight princess disc, load it up, and there should be a save game there that has everything (all hearts, etc.) load that, then go up to your man in front of you and talk to him (press A, run to him with the nunchuck joystick).

9. your screen will turn black with white text, and it should prompt you to hit A (gamecube controller) or hit the reset button. hit the reset button and it will start installing the homebrew channel to your wii (i GUESS there's like a one in a bajillion chance it will brick your wii, but i don't think anyone has actually reported any bricking). then when it's done hit the reset button again and the wii will reboot.

10. now there should be a channel on your wii, the homebrew channel. now, what you can basically do is drag and drop apps into an "apps" folder on your SD card and the homebrew channel will read them and do whatever.

ALRIGHT YOU'VE MADE IT THIS FAR I HOPE, NOW TO GET THE VISUAL BOY ADVANCE EMULATOR

11. pop out the SD card (after exiting the homebrew channel, if you even entered it) and put it back in your computer. download the visual boy advance emulator for wii here http://vba-wii.googlecode.com/files/Visual%20Boy%20Advance%20GX%201.0.1.zip and put the folder in the apps folder on the root of your SD card (if the apps folder doesn't already exist on your SD card, just make one). also, put the vbagx folder on the root of your SD card. you shouldn't need the "executables" folder.

12. download the rom (YOU'LL HAVE TO TRY ANOTHER ROM BECAUSE MOTHER3 ISN'T DONE YET >:) and put it in the vbagx folder under "roms". put the SD in your wii, open the homebrew channel on your wii, and there should be an app there for visual boy advance. i haven't used it in awhile so i don't remember what the menu is like, but i know it supports wiimote (using B and A as shoulder buttons or something weird), wiimote+nunchuck (never used), classic controller (connect it after the emulator loads, it's perfect :D), or a gamecube controller.

13. navigate the menu to find the rom, load it up, and it should work fine. so basically, you don't need twilight princess anymore (and if you ever want to boot anymore DOL/ELF files, you can just use the homebrew channel), but if you want to use emulators and shit like that you have to have your SD card inserted and you run everything off there. there are custom wii channels for emulators but i'm not sure how well they work. i run nes, snes, gba, genesis, and i turbo graifc-16 emulators from the homebrew channel / sd card just fine, the only thing i'm not sure about is the save files for the emulator (you'll have to test it out).

I forgot how the difficulty curve snaps in half once you finally play as Lucas. The first two game throw more money at you than you know what to do with, but not this one. I find myself grinding just to upgrade my weapons and armor. Luckily, I gave my dog a shit-load of Baked Yams near the beginning, and I soled that shit just to buy armor.

Very very very good game, but thank the Lord in Heaven I have a speed key. It's not the walking/dashing or anything, there are just some times where I don't want to go through a bunch of text.

My friend kept up with the project a few years ago and later forgot about it. When I told him about it, I helped him set it up and about twenty minutes later after I'd left he sent me a text message saying he cried :(

But man, I keep winning the boss fights by the skin of my teeth. One fight had all three party members' HP meters clocking down to zero, so I just kept spamming 1 hit combos hoping to beat the tickers.

I did, but then the next boss narrowed my party down to just Lucas. He died, but I forgot he had a special auto-revive item, so he came back to life, got a single SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH! and won, back from the grave. It was awesome, but now I don't have that item for later :(

Earthbound games always seem really long to me because you have to spend a huge amount of time in every major location.

I also hate grinding so I keep trying to just run past every enemy, then end up just having to go back and level up anyway because I can't beat whatever bullshit overpowered boss is at the end of the cave I'm tooling around in.

Also also doing anything to drive the plot along in the SNES one always gave me an enormous feeling of acomplishment, so it always felt like I was doing a shitton of stuff when really it might have been barely anything.

Finished. You know I really didn't care that much when this came out, I have so much other crap on my plate right now. Remembering how off again, on again I'd played Earthbound I started playing this as an afterthought and it just grabbed me and would not let go.

Aaaand I beat it. It was pretty easy once Kumatora learned PK Ground. The final boss took me two tries, because I kept wasting PP on Lifeup Gamma instead of Beta or Alpha.

I liked the ending, though. Watching it on youtube was misleading because the video didn't show the conversations that take place when you play with the joypad during "END?".

Is that part optional? Cause if it is, I hope everyone who didn't see the ending yet takes the time to do that, because it changes the ending quite a bit.

Anywho, really liked it. 9/10.

Don't bother with shields--he just "kills" them. Defense up omega and offense down alpha til his attacks are nuthin'. Have Duster or the Dog use a shitload of dumplings, and just wail on him.
