So I'm going to get a t.v. with this "compatability" :/ I was at Best Buy and the sales dude kept saying "I'm not on commision" but kept trying to sell me shit so I figure he is lying. Anyway he show's me a HDTV signal and then turns it off shows me a really grainy picture that he say's is regular cable but my cable isn't grainy so I said "That's not cable that's most likely antenna" "Uhhh well our cable isn't clear all the time and well it's just....So I bought the stupid t.v. and I'm still deciding if I should get the HDTV signal box thing.

hdtv is ALOT better. too bad there isnt much programming in it. you can get all the major netwroks and some premium channels but not much else. It probayl istn really worth it right now...

I think you also need digital cable to get any HDTV channels.

The FCC has mandated that TV stations stop airing analog signals by 2006. So all the over-the-air stations will have to go on HDTV. Any non-HDTV unit will have to get that HDTV converter box, and even then you'll only get regular TV reception. Not sure about what the rule is for cable, but I think it's the same. In the next couple of years HDTV prices will continue to plummet, and I don't think it's really worth it to by an expensive conventional TV unit at this point.
