While rumors have it that Battlefield Earth director Roger Christian is helming Mortal Kombat 3, Christopher Lambert says on his official website that he'll return in the role of Rayden in the third film. The site also says that Lambert will return as the immortal Connor MacLeod in Highlander: The Source.

Meanwhile, Linden Ashby, who stars in soap The Young and the Restless, tells TV Guide that he has "been talking to the producers for the past month or so pretty intensely, and they say we are set to go. I'll be reprising my role as Johnny Cage. It's supposed to start shooting this summer.

Thanks to 'Iceshag' for the alert.

Old news. And the fact that the Battlefag Earth director is helming it pretty much seals that it may end up being worse than Annihilation.

Nothing at all to get excited about, especially since it's been going so slow I doubt it'll ever even get made.

This isn't old news, it's official--new.

http://mk3movie.mortalkombatonline.com/ This site has been posting updates of it for months now.

It will get made, but it doesn't have a studio yet. New Line no longer owns the rights to it, and Theshold

It's still old news.

lets think here, The first two were laughible and the only funny part i can remember is when Johnny Cage fought Goro and punched him in the balls. And its being made by the guy who made Battlefield earth?

I hope they make a game about the movie like they did with street fighter.

1st one had some laughs, 2nd one sucked. And by laughs...I mean some jokes were funny.

Johnny Cage died in the second one, didn't he? :/

He died within the first two minutes of the second one, and was played by a different actor.

I dunno, if Lambert and Linden are back, maybe it won't suck.

Except people fail to realize that Lambert sucks as Rayden, and that they really can't backpeddle from the first two movies to pull something off that might actually be good. :/

Especially when you try to figure out what storyline they're gonna go with.

The only part I remember on the second one is Johnny Cage falling on spikes and them climbing up some mountain or something. :lol That reminds me Jax is fucking awesome. :(

They skipped MKII and went straight to number 3 for Annihilation, and 4 didn't have any of the regular characters, so either they're making up a new story or this movie will be based on Deadly Alliance. If that's the case, Johnny Cage is supposed to be resurrected anyway.

Whether or not Christopher Lambert makes a good Rayden, he's still cool enough to deserve any role in any movie ever. Though Connor probably won't seem very immortal comparing the first Highlander and the new one. :lol

Not to change the subject, but I'm gonna:

Didn't Christopher Lambert's character finally die in the last Highlander movie?

Perndog

...yes.

Maybe Duncan will be the main character and there'll be a lot of flashbacks? The series is kind of known for consisting of half flashbacks and half actual plot.

Cage got his neck snapped in Annihilation, in like the first 15 minutes. It wasn't he same actor anyway, and none of the characters seemed very broken up about it, so I'm gonna go ahead and guess it was a last-minute thing after Ashby decided the script sucked.

And the MK 1 movie rules.

Sonya was pretty unhappy about it, and she mentioned Johnny a few times during the movie.

He was also supposed to die at that point in the story; the filmmakers were just too lazy to make his death interesting.

The second one was terrible. I was still a child when it came out. Think about the effect something that horrible can do to a kid when compared to its former. My hopes, my dreams, shattered. I wanted to vomit, and I did. :(

When I was walking out of the theater after seeing Annihilation, some 7-odd year old was chirping 'That was even better than the LAST one!'

Yes, but the new movie probably would take place in the past.

Sandra Hess (Sonya in 2nd movie) actually knows some karate--well, from what I read.

MK2 sucked...1st one destroy's it.

As I said in my review, the first one only seems so great because the second one was so terrible. It's like when sports makes a post, and you long for the days that we had to deal with GothNAPrepsBody. It's a passable adaptation, but it doesn't rule.

And I stand by my opinion that Christoper Lambert as Raiden sucked. A scratchy-voiced laid-back aging hipster-esque talking-in-riddles wiseman in place of a powerful and kickass lightning god. Boo. Not that James "I cheated on Samantha" Remar was a better choice for the sequel.

James, get the fuck out of my thread. Don't make me spell it, get the fuck out. If you don't like the movie, get the fuck out. :lurker

:lol

I can guarantee I'm a bigger MK fan than everyone else in this thread combined, so it's not like I just don't like it. I'm just realistic about things, instead of nutting myself over all things MK.

The first MK movie was probably the best game-to-movie adaptation to date, but it obviously wasn't without its flaws. And I think people simply overlook a lot of the problems with the movie simply because Annihilation gave people a better appreciation for the first movie.

So if you don't like that, get out of MY thread. This is now MY thread, and I'm kicking you out.

2 big things against MK1. Doesn't have almost any gore or blood (like the games do) and it tends to get boring in some parts. 1 point each, 8/10.

You can't kick me out...I already kicked you out!

Miscasting, bad dialogue. Two more points.

Please, tell me who was ''miscast''. The acting in the movie was solid. What really saved the movie though was the awesome fight between Cage and Scorpion and Lui Kang vs Reptile.
