www.suprnova.org
Try the films section, there is some pretty unusual stuff to waste bandwidth on in there.
Also dare i say it.... fileplanet.com, its considered the worst place ever by most geeks but its somtimes worth checking out the front page to find out if any new stuff it out.

When I got faster Internet I just spent days watching long Flash movies, downloading full-length po- uh, movies, and as complete as Kazaa could offer seasons of favorite TV shows.

Post some music :)

Post it where, exactly? 25 megs is too much for my friend's server. If someone's willing to msn me and donate the temp webspace, I could give people the 40 minutes of music we recorded this summer.

I take it you have just aquired a new ISP?
There is a pretty good chance you got some free webspace with it. You usually get 25 - 50mb, check their website or your accout information for FTP info.

38KB is fast compared to dial-up, but that's hardly what qualifies for high-speed Intarweb around here. :(
Other than porn, I have nothing to suggest, though. The Internet is a barren wasteland.

Well, you can now stream a bunch of stuff you couldn't before. I pretty much only use my cable to download stuff of suprnova, porn of kazaa and stream music whilst surfing.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/index.shtml
BBC Digital radio. Some shows I like are Jonathan Ross and Mark Lamarr's Alternative sixties. There's plenty of stations and shows there, though, and you're sure to find something you like. They're all on-demand, so you can listen to every show that aired last thursday today if you want to.
Em. Downloading pc games demos I do often as well. Just, when I'm bored, I download a demo and play it for a while. Then I brutally delete it in a stormish display of digital potency.
Piolet is a good P2P network for MP3 files.
Also, you can now, if you want to, do that hardcore thing where you go on to an IRC room and totally never leave there. Then you come back, scour the logs for anything that has been said about you, and minimise it again for the next day. Very hardcore. Or was it lame. I forget the difference between them.

haha I've decided to do this on #realagss from now on yeah.
And chimp, I didn't even have maxed out dialup running at 5.6. I had 3.3. So shut up and let me have my fun.
I played a lot of CS: Source today and it was fun. Not as many retards on the servers right now and I was able to enjoy it for an hour.

You mean you get that when you download shit? Becuase i get around 300 to 400 kb when i d/l things. I sometimes get around 180 when i get on a crappy site. but 38 kb is like a really fast dial up speed?

yeah, mbps is the same thing as mb/s. Not to mention that (virtually) NO-ONE gets 30+ mb/s unless it's over their home network.

Actually mbps is megabits per second and mb/s is megabytes per second.
A byte is 8 bits.
Anyway i severly doubt he gets those speeds unless he is paying £1000+ per month for his connection.

mbps and mb/s are interchangeable and can mean either, since that whole forward slash thing going on just means 'over' or 'at a rate of' or 'per' anyway. I know what this wacky thing called 'binary' is, too.

Oct 15th, 2004, 12:58 PM
hmmm ok, perhaps i am wrong. but its an easy mistake to make...
1. Mbps is short for megabits per second or millions of bits per second, Mbps is a measurement used to determine the amount of data being transmitted per second.
2. MBps is short for megabytes per second or one million bytes per second.

jesus christ helm, i got faster speeds from a telephone modem - are you SURE that's your bandwidth?
http://www.dslreports.com/stest/0
that's a total waste of bandwidth, but it will tell you your connection speed (to LA >:)
for a more useful waste of bandwidth look into bit torrent clients. i've yet to use azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/), but i hear it's one of the better ones.
torrents and irc are your best bets for downloading anything and everything, tho you often have to jump thru some hoops.
