It definitely captures the spirit of “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”. The new plotline introduced was a bit disappointing, though, because they left it totally unresolved. I like how they used the theme from the BBC miniseries when they introduced the Guide itself, and the song at the beginning was great.

As a big fan of the books, I didn't know what to expect with the movie. However, I must admit, I was throughly entertained and impressed with it. It really did captured Douglas Adams sense of wit and humor (Of course later I found it was his original script used with only minor changes) and held true to the spirit of Doulas Adams. RIP Douglas, may your works live forever. :)

It got ass raped by Disney and they turned it into a family movie with a bunch of stupid romance shit and slapstick.
It sucked.

i heard the movie was cowardly because the main character was a closet racist. :eek

So is this what you're going to do now? Follow me all over the board because I "offended" your delicate sensibilities?
I'm honored.

Arthur and Trillian do have a romance in the books, it just doesn't happen the same way. AND HOW DARE A COMEDY HAVE SLAPSTICK. I INTEND TO WRITE MY SENATOR A LETTER DETAILING THIS AND THE FACT THAT THEY MADE FORD BLACK WHICH BY THE WAY REALLY STEAMS ME UP BUT AT LEAST I AM BRAVE ENOUGH TO ADMIT IT AM I RIGHT[/code]

I didn't mind Ford being black so much as I minded him being portrayed by a shitty actor.

I enjoyed the pull back scene. Right before earth was destroyed.

I thought it was very good. Didn't have everything I wanted, but then again, neither did the extended edition LOTR DVDs, and everything new in the movie was Adams' anyway, so it's all good.

I liked it alot, I didn't like the opening credits, though, I thought they went on too long. Great film though.
Funny story: After the movie I went into the bathroom and right above the urinal there was an advertisement for a diarrhea medicine and the caption under it said "Feel like there are more explosions in here than on the movie screen?" It's mighty hard to piss when you're sides are splitting.
