Every Disney movie ever made ever - Seriously, what the fuck? These movies are for kids and I found them to be more horrifying than any slasher. Some noteworthy ones: Bambi ( scared me the most ), Fantasia ( that big fucking devil thing gave me nightmares ), Pinochio ( the jackass scene scared me ), Dumbo ( when his mom got tortured :'( ), Beauty and The Beast ( the beast :( ), Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs ( that witch lady ) and probably more.

Evil Dead - Ok the 2nd one didnt scare me at all as a kid ( save for maybe the part where his girlfriend is headless and runs around ), but the first one scared me pretty damn good. Particularly the scene where Ash puts his thumbs into the guy's eyes and plucks em out.

Legend - EVERYTHING about this movie was creepy. From the big satan guy to the little fairy people's voices.

The first two movies I saw as a kid that scared the everloving bejesus out of me were the Exorcist, and the less-known yet still-fun-in-a-campy way Night Of The Demons.

Night of the Demons was my first horror movie, and I think it made me cry haha.

I would have to say Watership Down.

I used to watch it all the time when I was 5 or 6 and now when I watch it now I wonder why the crap my parents let me watch it in the first place.

I mean look at this screen shots from The movie http://www.scifilm.org/images3/watershipdown3.jpg
Here's Bigwig defending his burrow from the Eviiiiiiil General Woundwort.

Jaws scares me too.

Oh man, that little Malcolm in the Middle creature was way scarier than Darkness. I should watch that movie again.

As far as movies that shouldn't have been scary but were, nothing terrified me more than the flying monkeys in the wizard of oz.

Halloween.

Every night for three or four weeks after I saw that movie I'd just have the theme stuck in my head, and the more I tried not to think about it the harder it got lodged in my memory. It was just that intro with the credits over the pumpkin that scared me.

I was also scared of David Bowie in the Labyrinth. The Labyrinth and that fucking Ashes to Ashes video gave me a David Bowie phobia until I was 12 or something.

The Little Mermaid. When the Sea Witch turned into the girl and hypnotized the guy and she had no pupils, but pale yellow orbs for eyes, I was terrified.

Another one that scared me was Jurassic Park. I went to see it in theaters when it first came out, and I had to leave when Genarro got eaten off the toilet.

The first movie that made me stay awake all night was The Shining. It was so goddamn scary that I didnt even want to watch it, but I was so scared that I couldnt turn off the TV. I think I was 6 or 7 at the time.

In American Tail (the first one, not Goes West), that big-ass robot mouse scared the living daylights out of me. :(

Oh yeah, and I used to have nightmares that Rolf from the muppets would eat me. So I kinda shiver when I see him now. :( Being unsettled by a muppet, seriously. :/ :(

When I was real young like 5 or so The Shining scared the shit out of me and gave me nightmares. There were two scenes that I had nightmares about 1. The twins 2. The ghost in the bathtub. All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.

The Shining was the first movie that ever scared me so much that I was afraid to leave my seat..I think I was about 6 when I saw it.

Before that, the only movie that scared the shit right outta me was Who Framed Roger Rabbit? When near the end, that guy's eyes are popping out and he's talking in a really shrill voice >:

I remember one scene that particularly freaked me out was the end of Superman III where the woman gets yanked into the computer and turned into a robot.

Creepshow 2, specifically The Raft

I couldn't go swimming in a natural body of water for years without getting a bit nervous.

This might also be my answer for the "First Time You Saw Movie Boobies" thread too, but it's been almost 20 years, so who knows LOL. :/

Yeah, that one got me too. I saw it when I was like 5-6 and I was too afraid to go into lakes for a couple years after that.

Pet Sematary freaked me out real bad. I couldn't sleep for almost a week after watching it because I was scared that fucking Pascow dude was going to come in my room.

I was also afraid of Gremlins when I was younger. My dad would always want me to watch them with him because he loved the movies but those things freaked me out. I also was afriad of anything with Freddy in it.

Willow, The Labryinth and The Point were all terrifying in my memory. So was this other one with a dozen midgets and a kid who went around looking for something involving a rock that was pure evil. I can't remember what it was called though.

i'll have to say "the wizard of oz," too. every year, when it was on tv, i'd hide my eyes when i knew a wicked witch scene was coming up. and when i was about six, my family went to this land of oz theme park on a mountain somewhere in virginia or west virginia and i made my daddy carry me just about the whole time for fear of her.

my twelve-year-old watched "pet sematary" with his dad last week and didn't want to sleep alone for two nights. last night when a storm blew threw and knocked the power out, he was like, "is the basement door locked? gage might be down there." this is the first time he's been scared from anything like that, period. i don't remember the movie being scary, though i do recall that the ending was cheesy. the book's always better.

Pet Sematary is better than most Stephen King adaptations. Some of the actors are kinda wooden and the ending is gay, but there are some creepy scenes and a zombie baby with a scalpel.

fetusman
Jul 8th, 2005, 04:59 PM
yea the ending was pretty lame, but now when i watch the movie i'm depressed for a good 5 minutes

but the shining will always be the best stephen king adaption ever

"the shining" movie added the whole hedge maze; that was awesome. but the black guy dies whereas he didn't in the book; i felt cheated about that.

i think "shawshank redemption" is the best stephen king adaptation.

The part where E.T. and Eliot (or whoever the protagonist was) met each other and started screaming. At the time I never wanted to see that movie again. I had not seen many horror movies as a kid, but Cujo scared the hell outta me. Although this counts as a TV show, I thought Are you Afraid of the Dark, and Goosebumps were pretty scary (sigh......)

Goosebumps always sucked ass. Are of Afraid of the Dark scared the shit outta me sometimes though.

Also, when I was a kid just looking at some of the nightmare on elm street vhs covers creeped me out.

In a way, I think horror movies should be more important towards kids, considering how it would take a lot more to scare an adult. Kids dont take heed of bad acting and whatnot, anyways.

A bunch of horror movies scared me as a kid, everything from Child's Play to Friday the 13th.

What really stuck with me though, was Animal Farm. And it was a fughing cartoon at that. I dunno, something about animated blood was just creepier back then.

Yoda always scared me, much more than Vader or the Emperor.

In the superman with Richard Pryor, in the scene where that fat woman gets pulled into the weird machine and turns into a robot scared the living hell out of me. I always had to leave the room and wait till someone told me it was over.

It's Alive - I never even saw the movie, just the ad on TV used to freak me out. The Amityville horror because it was based on a "true" story.
Also, Magic - I hate puppets.
