Just like the first one, this movie appears to have come from nowhere, just in time for Halloween (The release date is Oct. 28.)
I haven't been able to watch the trailer yet since I'm on a school computer, but I have mixed feelings about the entire concept of this movie. I mean, how could you possibly expand on the first one? The surprise has been done already. The message boards on Rotten Tomatoes are being pretty harsh so far, and it appears that most of them hated the first movie anyway, so I don't know whether to take their judgment with a grain of salt.

Saw is a seriously fucked up movie. Too similiar to Seven where the killers had same motives but it's still a great movie. I can't imagine myself being captured and put in one of these situations.

at the same time, Saw was one of the biggest pieces of shit to hit the theaters that year.
seriously, if you want fucked up, go rent a japanese flick or something. Gozu or Tetsuo are good.

unfortunately, most of the foreign stuff you have to buy. unless, of course, you have a really good video store.

I am so fucking sick of people claiming saw is "SOOOO FUCKED UP DUDE, IT WAS AWESOME!". Fuck. It's pretty tame when you don't come from an overprotective home and have seen movies outside the ones at blockbuster.

Barbed-wire, mouth-trap, leg-sawing. Good enough for me.

"Netflix dont carry them. Where can i find these movies?"
wow, you can't even use a search engine? netflix has both. these movies are not hard to find at all.
some other fairly brutal stuff (without sacrificing too much other content) you can find on netflix...
come and see, irreversible, i stand alone, black sun: the nanking massacre, kichiku dai enkai, the guinea pig series (particularly flower of flesh and blood), man behind the sun, and the isle.
i keep crossing my fingers that they'll get aftermath/genesis so i don't have to buy it... i'm about to give up.

Yeah it was definitely still a good movie, just not as excessively violent, gory and fucked up as sheltered people are saying.

I liked how the scenery reminded me a lot of Silent Hill. I think that's really the only reason I liked it :(

SPOILERS FOR SAW1 ->
SAW was so incredibly fucking gay, its the best example of how some films have a twist at the end just because its the cool thing to do at the moment.
I mean lets just say the killer really was critically ill, how did he lie on the floor for like 4 hours or whatever without coughing like shit or moving, and if he sedated himself - what the fuck was the point as he would not be able to see what was going on and whatnot. I find it hard to believe he did it just to at the end he could stand up and go "ah ha! all along i was right here suckers!"
It was just so pointless and stupid.

saw was basically just a guy going "AWOOOO AND THEEEEEEEEEN THE CLOWN ROOODE UP ON A TRIIIIIICYCLE AWOOOO" with a flashlight and then yelling "BOO" and laughing because he got you soooooo good.

my favorite part of the first movie was when the dude gets electrified, i couldnt stop laughing. sadly is like that in all new "horror movies", i just cant stop laughing and people always look at me angry cause of that. :/

we need less of these OMG shocking thriller type horror movies and more stuff along the lines of friday 13th. The horror genre needs new character to carry the torch we need a Jason Voorhees of this generation. Thats one of the reasons I loved Jeepers creepers, it was so reffreshing to see a new original "stalker" amongs the shit pile of remakes and crappy wanna be shockers.

I put saw in a catagory w/ The Devils Rejects
Both i liked because not of the gore, but because of the physcological aspect.
In the devils rejects, the family(bad) was brought in by that cop(good), but by the end of the movie, the cop (now bad) was relentlesly pursing the 3 remaining family members (just now trying to survive) to death. The mindset was reversed by an event from the past (the cop's brother's death).
In saw, the doctor found out about alan's?(is that his name?) motives to basically stalk the doctor for that clown dude. However, faced with a greater evil(clown-coma dude), the doctor risked his own life( by being found out and killed for breaking the rules) to save alan's, when he could have just as easily actually posioned the cigaretts to get only himself out, with minimal risk.
I'm 13. Why i am i thinking on this level?

Yes, because deep thoughts always include the word "dude".
I find that many deep thoughts like that are usually induced by marijuana.

i thought Saw was a movie that was done by some novice filmmakers that were full of enthusiasm and a decent idea and tone, and yet unfortunately had some shit ideas as well and cringeworthy camerawork.
it was worth $5 on dvd is what it boils down to.
fun flick, kinda crap, but just good enough to have a sequel at least sound interesting.
at least just to see if they've learned ANYTHING or gotten any better.

To "remedy" the confusion around my original post, i do NOT think all gory movies have an excelent story, just that the often DO, and many people overlook them because they are gory.
One possible exception is a clockwork orange, which many people hated. It had a storyline that made you think. Even though we preach tolerance, and understanding, and love for everyone, if there was a person who was nice to everyone, and accepted all that, HE WOULD NOT SURVIVE. It is our animal nature to prey on the weak, and as soon as we get the upper hand, we take advantage of everyone who is weaker than us.
By the way Skulhedface, genuises come in "odd" packages sometimes. Beethoven sucked at music class in school, and Einstien could'nt tie his shoes.
