thanks! i go to the doctor monday, but i believe i'm about 12 weeks. and i have been feeling ultra-crappy. lotsa chunks blown and a day out of work yesterday. but the meds calmed it a bit, and i've got crackers and ginger ale by my side today. the sickness didn't last too long with the others, but kevin says who knows with this one 'cause it's a SUPERHERO BABY. :P

i was gonna say something about how i hope you're not really menopausal like in that 70's show when eric's mom thought she was preggers but really it was menopause but then i thought "i don't think she's anywhere near old enough for that and i don't think think she'll appreciate me saying she is!"

:O i didn't see this episode, but i did see some cable movie about an overweight latino girl who's mom went through the same thing.
and thanks, guys, even those of you i don't know 'cause i'm feeling nice today. my students are getting to watch the movie version of "dr. jekyll and mr. hyde," which they just finished reading. but that's more because i need to catch up on grading than because i feel like being nice.

one cool thing about being pregnant is that now i have an excuse for all my spaciness (and it's not related to anything illegal!) like (omg!) f*cking up the bbcode. and like walking right by the car in the grocery store parking lot. and like passing the turn and not realizing it until five minutes later... fun, fun, fun.
i went for my first real visit with the ob yesterday after school. there's a bit of confusion about how far along i am 'cause i had a period that only lasted a day jan. 24th. by all reports, it shouldn't count. especially since the one before that started dec. 4th. (i guess with the holiday craziness, we just lost track. :()
if dec. 4th is correct, the nice doctor said that would make the baby at about 13 weeks gestation, and due sept. 10th. he said (and i won't go into detail about how he came to his conclusion...), however, that it feels like i'm more like 9 weeks gestation. so on the 28th, we're going in for an ultrasound! that means pictures! yay!
the doctor didn't say anything about my needing to be tested more frequently due to my age, which is nearing the red zone, at (gasp!) 36. (no, not quite menopausal, blackflag, but not so far away from it as i used to be. :O) but he did say i could get my ol' tubes tied when i had the c-section, no problemo. this is definitely the last one!

two of my boys are in that pic--the older is in the background. he's 12. the littlest is 19 months. my other was stillborn when i was three days overdue, in 1999. i had a placental abruption and almost died myself. :(

we've been trying to explain to the little one about the "baby in there." he makes a joke out of it by pointing to anywhere but my already-bulging belly when we ask, "where's the baby?" but i don't think he really gets it yet.
on a side note, one of his favorite words to say is "ball," which he drawls out like "bah-oh-ullll." he loves to point at my breasts and say "ball" and giggle like crazy while i go :blah. :(

okay. i'm getting really sick of feeling freaking queasy all the freaking time. if i go without eating something, anything, more than 20 minutes, it's over. i'm feeling like i've been on a little fishing boat with big fat cigar-smoking men sweating all over their smoked salmon. and i'm gaining too much weight too fast. i don't want to have 300 pounds to lose after the baby comes. jesus. make it stop.

I understand that it's pretty easy to gain the baby weight after a couple of little ones and just as easy to lose it after the baby is born. As long as it's healthy mizz sadie. That's all that counts.

Mar 12th, 2006, 02:29 AM
i just keep hearing my mom say she lost all the weight until after my littlest brother, the third kid. and i'm on my fourth. christ. kevin keeps telling me to quit with the this-is-the-way-it-was, but it's hard. like the cigarettes. i didn't even smoke that much, never around the kids, and i can't be around the smell at all when i'm pregnant. but afterward, every time, i go right back to smoking. so i'm thinking, it'll probably be the same this time. stop that, he says. okay; i'll try, i say. shit. i'm rambling. somebody smack me. thanks.

i decided to post in the general blabber forum for the first time in many a year today.
and here it is.
i always assumed Sadie was the person in the background. when you're 300 years old small pictures mess with your mind.
and i have that exact same puppy costume. i cut it at the bottom so i can fit into it.
i'm holding my tongue so i don't make an ass out of myself.
...
i hate children. actually, i hate anyone younger than 21 years old. they induce mixed feelings of nervousness, fear, anger, disgust, and confusion.
sorry.

kevin and i decided on names! if it's a girl (which everyone's been leaning toward...), she'll be autumn rhea. if it's a boy, he'll be atticus sage. for now, we're calling him/her atty, which kinda suits for either.
it'd be very cool to have a little girl, but since all of mine have been boys, i'd probably be more comfortable with another. we go for an u/s wednesday--too early yet for gender id-ing, but we will get pics!!

Way to name your son after a fictional character. Why not just call him spongebob?
ziggytrix
Mar 26th, 2006, 10:50 PM
Rhea is a terrible thing to put into a person's name if they are going to have to go thru anything remotley like a normal childhood.
I'm sorry, I probably should have kept that to myself. :(

hey sadie, is atticus after atticus finch?
my good friends named their baby boy after a mark twain character (sawyer) and buster keaton :D sawyer keaton
ps: gw? start being a lady in this thread or else >: i have no idea what you are talking about with spongebob, but i have a feeling that atticus is the name of some character in one of the animes that you used to not watch, but do now. >:

yah, glow. the most honorable character ever. sawyer is a cute name; is their child a boy?
and gw probably had to google the word to even get the allusion.
and thanks, sicktodeath, but why did you have a stage name?!
and ziggy, it's not pronounced "ree-ah"; it's pronounced "ree," if that matters.
