...family members who, when it is your birthday, send you gasoline gift cards, subscriptions to Reader's Digest with the BIG LETTERS (wtf-I don't even need glasses) and tube socks for your birthday? Oh, a CASE of Cambells chicken noodle soup, winter gloves and a CASE of kleenex.

I think it is so sweet but I also wonder if they know something on down the line that I don't??

I love my family btw. :) I know I'll use this stuff. :not the tube socks tho

Say shitforbrains, since it's a hundred fucking degrees where you have to valet park, I'm sure the hot pink tubies will suit you just fine.

Something tells me they are just your color.

will they protect my feet from blisters

the answer, if they are socks, is yes.

Terra
Apr 4th, 2006, 07:37 PM
If you shove them in your ass they will protect that area too. Of course they will protect you from blisters.

Apr 4th, 2006, 07:39 PM
you sure do like the idea of things in asses, and just so you know my ass is in no threat of blisters. if your ass is getting blistered, you might want to see some sort of ass doctor

Terra
Apr 4th, 2006, 07:40 PM

Everyone knows that Noobs can only enjoy gifts his girlfriend lets him have! :lol

My husband's Grandma gave us a subscription to Readers Digest for years at Christmas time. After she got bored with that, we got the annual Cheese & Jelly crate in the mail. She's passed now... and we miss that cheese!! :)

Hey guys, my grandparents never give me more than a ten dollar gift, cuz they don't have a whole lot of money.

But I'm not ungrateful, because they are cool as fuck, and I get to hang out with them on holidays and listen to old war stories and what is going on with the rest of the family, and YOU WILL APPRECIATE THAT WHEN YOU ARE OLDER, OR I HOPE YOU DON'T LIVE TO BE OLD.

I agree with Ziggy. My Grandfather passed away last summer. He was 92. In the last few years of his life he told many stories of how things used to be. It was cool as hell to hear all of this stories and the things he endured in his 92 years. I miss him. :(

As far as gifts, my grandparents has 12 kids. (Yes, they were Catholic) At the time they passed, there were 78 "immediate" family members. My Grandmother had Christmas at her house every year and bought EVERYONE a gift. It was always something small but she never forgot anyone. :)

Actually, the point of the thread was to surmize what it was they were trying to tell me. As I understand it from many of my older relatives, the days following the depression were hell. I'm not slamming the gas card or the pallet of soup and the other stuff (well, okay the hot pink tube socks-but it gets cold here) as much as I'm wondering what they know that I don't. And that's obviously plenty.

At any time in my life, my blessings could easily be defined by a can of soup.

I love my relatives. If it weren't for them I wouldn't have the blessings that I have that came from the sweat of their brows.

Thankfully, nobody in my family is very old.
I have four year's over anybody in my generation on my mother's side.
My youngest aunt is five only five years older than me.
I visit my great-grandmother during Christmas.

Old people are a hassle, but I just deal with it and love 'em just the same.

OLD PEOPLE GIVE GIFTS DOS AND DO NOTS:

DOS

MAKE SURE IT WILL KEEP SOMEONE WARM

MAKE SURE IT WILL HELP STOP A COLD

MAKE SURE IT IS SOFT

MAKE SURE IT ISNT TOO EXPENSIVE UNLESS ITS AN ANNIVERSARY

IF ITS AN ANNIVERSARY GO ALL OUT

MAKE SURE ITS A CHECK OR A CARD

IF ITS NOT A CHECK OR A CARD DEMAND THAT ITS PUT IN THE BANK RIGHT AWAY

MAKE IT YOURSELF

MAKE IT YOUR FAVORITE ANIMAL AND HOPE THEY LIKE YOUR FAVORITE ANIMAL

RELIGION IS OKAY BECAUSE PEOPLE EXPECT IT FROM YOU

MAKE IT THOUGHTFUL PRACTICAL AND SHOW THAT YOU CARE AND LOVE THEM

HINT AT THE FACT THAT YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH GRANDKIDS AND

MAKE SURE THEY REALIZE THAT THE MESSAGE IS: IM OLD AND I DONT WANT *YOU* TO DIE BUT ME, WELL

MAKE IT A TOY IF ITS A GRANDKID TO MAKE ADULTS JEALOUS

DONTS

DONT LEAVE THE PRICE TAG ON UNLESS ARTHRITIS

DONT PURCHASE A FAD THE REAL GIFTS LAST FOR YEARS

DONT EXPECT A BIG SMILE ALL THAT MATTERS IS THAT YOURE ALIVE TO SEE THEM ALL TOGETHER AGAIN

DONT TRY TO SURPRISE ANYONE EVER

DONT EXPECT TO LEAVE WITH MORE THAN HUGS AND MEMORIES

DONT TAKE FOR GRANTED HOW DUMB YOUNGS ARE THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY WANT (TO STAY ALIVE ANOTHER YEAR)

DONT GET MAD IF YOU CANT USE A GIFT YOURSELF KIDS JUST DONT UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF THE OLDER AMERICAN AT TIMES

DONT ATTEMPT ASSEMBLY WHATEVER YOU DO DONT

i hope these have been a big help to you and yorus merry christmas
