Having been here for about 2 months now, I figured I would share some of my observations about Los Angeles with everyone.

People honk in tunnels over here because:
1. We're easily amused. Honking in tunnels creates an echo, and the reaction you get from hearing it is the same as hearing your phone voice. "What? It sounds like that? Hah!" It just doesn't sound the same as when you honk on the open road :(
2. Bark:Dog::Honk:L.A. Driver. While we deeply value our magical multicultural land, it's important that we have some sort of language that can bridge the gap between our many walks of life. Honking is the perfect glue to hold together our balsa wood bridge of universal communication.

How could you not warn me about all the donut shops Willie? HOW!!? >:
Marc, I dunno, there's a lot more amusing things going on in L.A. than the echo of a car horn in a tunnel. I just wouldn't think people would be that amused by it.
Oh and those mysterious signs? Some people have emailed me saying that the signs indicate different movie/tv shoots in the area.

The colon thing actually has something to do with the... festive citizens that heavily populate the east coast.

I enjoyed your article.
Several years ago, Janet jackson told Newsweek she regularly recieved coffee enemas and encouraged others to do the same.
Is their difference between eneams and colonics? If not, I think people should be forced to sue the word 'enema', so they no one can be confused into thinking what they are doing is anything nice.

The weird signs are film crew directions. I'd always wondered myself what they were (I live in London, they're all over the place here too) then my girlfriend who works in movies told me. You know obviously they all have directions and address's of where the shoot is but if you're transporting trucks and trucks worth of film equipment, and 1 truck gets lost in backstreets thats going to be delaying shooting, and costing people money
so they'll have like a weird code word, or an abbreviation of the films title... hence 'hammer'..
maybe they were filming an MC Hammer biopic. I bet Sam Jackson is the lead.

I never realized what smug assholes people in LA were until I lived in Bakersfield(not that it's peachy here). Not only do they send their sewage and waste here but they also send their bums and there has been an increase in crime because of it. Stupid cunts.

I was taught by my parents that Honking is to warn others in the tunnel that a car is coming through. Not a straight tunnel, but a blind tunnel, one that turns, and narrows. Like some of the older ones in Colorado.

But you have lights on, youd see them coming....Honking is for the echo, nothing more.

People don't turn their lights on immediately when they enter a tunnel for some reason.
