So I've been a fan of this series for a while now, and I've always thought it awesome enough for you guys to appreciate despite the fact that it's an anime, but since I knew most of you are too lazy to watch a subtitled version of something and so aviod the bad english acting that is usually predominant in anime, I didn't think I should try and get you guys to watch it. Until about an hour ago, when I started watching the first episode in english, and found everything about it absolutely fan-fucking-tastic. Instead of using the usual shitty american voices for this, the dubbing team took into account that it takes place in England, and got a bunch of top-of-the-line english voice actors to work on this. The result is nothing short of spectacular. Every single voice matches it's character absolutely perfectly, right down to the minor people that appear in only one scene and are never seen again. In short, this is hands down some of the best acting in a cartoon I've ever fucking seen, and coupled with the awesomeness of a violent, blood-drenched storyline and excellently coreographed action sequences, this is an absolutely amazing show. Even though the series end in a cliffhanger style and doesn't reveal much of the main plot, Hellsing is still one of my favs too ;<

Its chock full of blazing fast ninja gunfights. And one of the villians fights with dual chainsaws. And as a bonus, in every episode, someones face explodes after he is kicked in the balls.

I've only seen a few episodes of Hellsing but the art and vibe is so nutty and misanthropic it's hard NOT to like it.

I thought HU was okay. It definitely followed the manga closer than the original series, and it was just as trashy and over-the-top violent as the manga, too. I wouldn't pay to see it, but it was ok.

I haven't seen the OVA yet, just the anime. I was ecstatic when I found the first 3 episodes for 3 dollars on DVD :o

I've heard the OVA is better. I looked it up on eBay and found a boxed set for 80 bucks. I was like "Fuck yeah" cuz I thought it was the whole series.

TURNS OUT IT'S ONLY THE FIRST 3 EPISODES. :D That's what, an average of over 25 dollars an ep? This shit had better make me piss joy for three days straight to be worth that.

Are you saying 4 has already been fansubbed or that it's only been made in japan? Cuz I watched the series (on youtube) and the three eps of Ultimate that are out in one night. My friend also ran across Ultimate after she hated on the series...and she took everything back immediately. I have in mind that as soon as i see all of Ultimate (on youtube) I'm going to by the whole damn collection.

It's better than the original because it follows the plot of the manga closer, in that it doesn't branch off with a brand new plot partway in.

In that way, it's better, but not by much.
