Don't know much about the history of comic books? Let Protoclown give you a crash course in his latest piece and he gives you an extremely accurate presentation about great comic books since the dawn of time... or something like that. Also learn all about the upcoming "free comic books day", in which any decent comic books store will be participating!

Along with your free stack of comic books, you'll also get a free can of chick repellant spray, which is totally superfluous as comic books are themselves chick repellant!

And Carni swoops in with the first "comic book people can't get a date" comment. Who's next?

Hells yes!

Of course, I was once a collector myself. I curse the day I let my collection go.

Unless you date a chick who has more comics than you. :(

of course, all I'll probably get from the Grace Street comic shop is an issue of Wonder Woman and Archie's Adventures.

When you have comics, you don't need chicks. FACT.

Edit: Oh, and Empty, I know that a LOT of comic stores are giving away additional comics aside from the "official" ones that are in the Free Comic Day packs.

Check out www.freecomicbookday.com guys (as I'm sure you already have, Empty) to see what the "official" free books are.

Good to finally see you on the new boards, by the way.

I'm gonna be cheap and hit up like 10 shops to get free books. Well, I probably won't be able to find that many, but...

It's okay if you don't get the jokes. I hate comic fans (fans of anything really) who assume that everybody knows what they're talking about when they rant on about how Superman is a republican, not a democrat.

I would read at least half the comics described in this piece.

Four-armed, four-legged man sounds exciting. I wonder if they have the first issue at the Smithsonian... then again, it's probably still in its original candlewax cover.

I can't believe Stories comics isn't supporting free comic day, those bastards. >: I'll have to head into Richmond instead for some free comics...

You should come with me to Richmond Comix. It's the best store in the city, and the owner's name is Frank Miller (which coincidentally happens to be the name of one of the most popular writer/artists in the industry...he did "Sin City" and "The Dark Knight Returns" to name a few).

So the owner has the same name as the "Sin City" Frank Miller or he IS the "Sin City" Frank Miller? If you're going down there on Saturday I might catch a ride with ya to check it out... lemme know.

Protoclown

He just has the same name. And yeah, I'm going on Saturday.

I just got an email from some dude who liked the article but he didn't appreciate me putting my backward political views into an otherwise fine piece of writing. :lol

Comic shops should have some sort of worldwide communications network.

Well, who are you to call Aquaman an orange-garbed useless weakling? >:

He's someone who hasn't read the cool Peter David Aquaman revisions.

:lol @ Fatsatan

I'm reading the response thread on Fark right now, and a few people on there said they disapproved of my "cheap shot" on Bush and at least one person said they stopped reading immediately after that sentence.

OH NO! I DON'T LIKE BUSH! HOW OFFENSIVE AND SHOCKING! :eek
