So I went to South Africa. I fell off a horse straight on my back, had a v. close encounter with a Black Mamba, had my trainers pinched by Vervet Monkeys (who have bright blue balls) and ridden on a flatulent elephant. It was brilliant.

As for the black/white issue, it is obvious. But in the area I went to, Vaalwater, I did not come across white racists. Some in fact had almost been arrested during apatheid for trying to help blacks attain a better quality of life. The rich/poor divide is very much to do with colour, but I think they've come a long way in eight years. Some of the black blokes I spoke to are disappointed in Mandela though, not enough done fast enough. But the people I met there were so genuine and friendly, colour regardless.

But in Johannesburg I was warned not to leave the airport as I would be mugged. So I didn't.

Then I went to Zambia where it was very different in that as my Sister's magazine was paying for it, we were able to stay in a hotel that I could never afford in a million years. And there were a few rich South African whites there whose views sucked. One bloke was like, "oh so your english are you, last time I went to the UK I noticed it's getting very 'dark'." I did point out that England has been an immigrant nation for about 2000 years, but the stupid rich fat twat is full of blind hate. So I told him to piss off.

Aren't South Africans currently kicking white farmers off their lands and taking it as their own? I might be thinking of just one African country in particular.

No, there aren't kicking out the white farmers there, that's Zimbabwe. A common mistake that damages the much needed tourist indusry. Zimbabwe is one of the southern countries of the continent of Africa, but South Africa is actually the name of a seperate country that happens to be south of Africa.

Robert Mugabe has to be my favorite tinpot dictator of the moment. Fuck Saddam - I'd love to see the USA rip a hole in his asshole. That and they play cricket, which is the only game less interesting than frisbee golf.

I actually stood illegally in Zimbabwe. I was in a raft, decided to jump out, climb some rocks then jump in the river. Only I was on the wrong side of the river. Nobody shot me though.

But the bastard vervet monkeys never gave back my trainers. Damn them HIV bastards.

Okay, did anyone actually pick this up? I guess that I haven't seen the Fellowship Extended DVD yet, so I must be either a)So totally uncool or b)heterosexual.

Trainers are those running shoes that the cute athletic girls at high school used to wear - so they could run really, really fast from the likes of Bombadil.

Glad you enjoyed it

Where in South Africa was this? Probably a game reserve? Its amazing how many people think South Africa is a jungle full of dangerous beasts intent on eating your face out. I live in Johannesburg South Africa and this is no the case.
